What's your ask?

Not “I need more business.”

Not “I'm looking for referrals.”

We're talking about a specific, memorable ask that gives your network a clear picture of who you're looking for and why an introduction would be valuable.

This month, you'll build your own networking ask and put it to the test.

Then comes the real challenge:

🎯 One introduction.
🤝 One referral.
💡 One thoughtful connection.

And as others share their asks, don't just listen.

Listen for someone you can help.

Because great networkers don't just ask for business.

They ask for relationships—and they look for ways to create value.

Who do you know that knows your ideal client?

That's the question we should be asking.

Your best connection isn't always your next customer. It might be the person who already has the trust, relationships, and access to the people you want to meet.

Instead of:

❌ “Who knows a contractor?”

Try:

✅ “Who do you know who works with contractors every day?”

That's asking beyond the ask.

This month, we're going beyond “I need referrals” and learning how to make asks that uncover connectors, referral partners, and real opportunities.

Because sometimes the most valuable introduction isn't to the customer.

It's to the person who can introduce you to 10 customers.

The Power Of the ASK

People want to help. So why aren't they?

Sometimes, it's not a lack of willingness.

It's a lack of clarity.

If your networking partners don't know who you want to meet, what problem you solve, or what value you bring, they can't connect the dots.

This month, we're learning how to Make It Easy for People to Help You.

We'll turn vague requests into specific, memorable asks that your network can actually act on.

And there's a challenge:

Leave the meeting with one polished ask—and one person you can help connect.

Your network is listening.

Give them something specific to listen for.

THE POWER OF THE ASK

How many opportunities have you missed because you never asked?

We often assume people know how to help us. But if your ask is too broad, unclear, or focused only on making a sale, your network may not know what to listen for.

This month, we're putting The Power of the Ask into practice.

You'll learn how to turn:

❌ “I’m looking for referrals.”

into a clear, memorable ask that makes people think:

“I know someone who needs this!”

Come ready to share a story, sharpen your ask, and find someone you can help.

Because opportunities rarely come from waiting.

They come from asking.

Something I’ve been thinking about lately:

How many people are talking about your business when you’re not in the room?

Not because you asked them to. Not because there’s a referral fee. But because they genuinely trust you enough to put their own name behind yours.

That’s a different level of networking.

I don’t just want a big contact list. I want to build relationships with people where I know their work, I trust their character, and I’m comfortable saying, “Call this person. They’ll take care of you.”

That takes time.

I’d rather have 20 people who will say my name in the right room than 2,000 people who just know my name.

🔥 THE POWER OF THE ASK 🔥
Make It Easy for People to Help You
Your network can’t help you if they don’t know what you need.
The more specific your ask, the easier it is to create connections, referrals, and opportunities.
🤝 Be clear. Be intentional. Make the ask.

💭 Who is the hardest-working person you’ve ever known—and how did they influence you?
Maybe it was a parent who never quit.
A boss who showed you what leadership looked like.
A coach who pushed you further than you thought you could go.
Or someone who quietly showed up every single day and got the job done.
Hard work is often something we learn by watching someone else live it.
👇 Who was that person for you, and what did they teach you?
Tag them if you can. Give them the recognition they deserve

The Follow-Up Gap:

Why Good Connections Go Nowhere”
Almost everyone networks—but most opportunities are lost after the introduction.
You could build the discussion around questions like:

How quickly should you follow up?
What makes a follow-up feel genuine instead of salesy?
How many times should you reach out?
How do you turn a new connection into an actual relationship?
What makes someone memorable after a networking event?
Bottom line: The connection gets you in the door. The follow-up determines whether anything happens.
