We lived behind a little creek in our small downtown area here in Rochester Michigan. I was watching a tiny mouse one day run out from a quaint patch of woods here by the rocks. He would devour up the birdseed that had fallen on the ground from our birdfeeder. He was so focused and determined to race just as fast as he could to gather up as much seed as he could. Not much could distract him from
the task that was before him that morning. I started drawing this small guy and creating light hearted illustrations based on my new friend in the woods. I gave him a name which seemed to fit his dapper character :
Mr. Max Basset
He soon had other friends that my imagination created. Bert the BIGbear.... which I didn't actually see in the woods here…. Curtis the Turtle , who often gave him rides across the creek to the local library to return his mousy cd's that he would rent for his evening entertainment. and last but not least...Max's cute mouse friend:
Miss Mella
...who would spend endless days chatting with him and sharing snacks of choice cheeses and birdseed. (hee hee)
Before I knew it, more & more drawing were created & sketched onto paper along with handmade creations of all other sorts including:
Painted rocks, miniature clay creations in sweet preserve glass jars, ornaments and more. My hope is that my drawings might take you back to a simpler time and bring a little smile or bit of encouragement to your living space. and Remember...
Every. Mouse, Counts.
