Elizabeth Zanolli is the Associate Athletic Director for Sports Medicine at Stony Brook University. She has spent her career caring for student athletes.
At Stony Brook, she made a choice to invest just as intentionally in the people who care for them. That meant going deeper than another team-building exercise.
It meant asking a high-performing sports medicine staff to look honestly at how they communicated, worked together, handled pressure and defined success. It meant making time for individual and team development in an environment where there is never a shortage of work already on the plate.
Elizabeth made that investment because she believed her team deserved the conditions to perform at a high level without losing fulfillment in the process.
That is where the partnership with Evolveability began. Elizabeth brought Evolveability in with a long view on development, not a quick fix.
Together, the work has included assessment, individual coaching, team development and an ongoing partnership around staff culture and performance.
Over time, the team has moved toward stronger communication and collaboration, clearer shared standards, greater ownership and a more team-first way of operating.
That kind of change takes courage. The courage to look deeper, do the work and lead differently.
