I started at Family Crisis Centers 24 years ago today. Back then, the agency was known as the Domestic Violence Aid Center. Seven employees served four counties for domestic violence and sexual assault. We had bag phones and considered it an immense blessing when we gained pagers after my first year.

Things have changed greatly since then. Today, we have 54 employees serving people impacted by all crimes in all 99 Iowa counties. Our annual budget has increased by 1,064%. We went from serving 200 people annually to thousands.
