General ticketing is open for the Apollo’s Praise annual Labor Day celebration! Tourmaline NYC with Executive Chef & Co-Owner Yvan Lemoine, a James Beard Foundation semi-finalist for Best Chef: New York State, is taking over the Lahoma Vineyard farmhouse for one night only. After years working alongside some of the most decorated chefs in America, he and his wife Rebecca Sussman opened Tourmaline. After a banner first year running their restaurant in Forest Hills Queens, they are headed to this Finger Lakes for this special collaboration dinner!⁣

Pouring alongside them is Wine Director Nicole Muscari, a WSET Level 4 Diploma holder and French Wine Scholar with highest honors... and just as importantly, a dear friend who has supported Apollo’s Praise since the beginning. ⁣

Together, we’re sending off summer with celebration-worthy pairings with our newest releases. You won’t want to miss it. ⁣

Over the last year, we have gotten so many compliments about the floral arrangements at the barn or for our events, which are all made lovingly by our very own Daisy Hoyt! As a landscape designer and local plant expert, she takes the weekly task of arranging flowers at Apollo’s Praise seriously.⁣

Join Daisy for a casual Sunday morning flower workshop; we’ll provide the flowers (from a local farm!), and the wine! Daisy will lead us in a short tutorial on what she’s picked and why and how she puts pieces together, and she’ll pour some sneak peeks at the fall wine club lineup. ⁣If you’re a wine club member, you can add this date to your list of pickup opportunities for the fall release!

*Bring your own vase or vessel (with a 4” opening or less) to take flowers home in, please! If you have a pair of pruning shears, you are welcome to bring your own. We will have some for people to borrow. ⁣

Wait, that’s not Austin! ➡️ That’s Austin! If you’ve been to Lahoma in the last couple of months, you may have met the adorable Booker (he belongs to Austin), or perhaps you signed up for the Wine & Glee Club (because Austin does a great job telling people about it), or learned something about chemistry (because Austin knows a ton about it).⁣

We couldn’t be luckier to have Austin as a part of our growing team. Austin Montgomery is a food scientist and recent graduate from Gavin Sacks’ wine flavor chemistry lab at Cornell University. His PhD focused on understanding and mitigating corrosion in aluminum beverages cans (with wine being one of the beverages investigated)! ⁣

Catch Austin while you can before harvest season… he’ll be making his own wines this fall, and pulling double duty working on his own wine project and spending a little bit of time at the tasting barn when he can. ⁣

Scenes from a whirlwind 72 hours in NYC, where Julia and Kelby snuck in a mid-summer vacation and were able to check in on some of our favorite restaurant folks!

While we had so much fun we didn’t remember to get photos of everything, some special shout outs are due to Karan Makhija and Gramercy Tavern for the exceptional hospitality, the incredible martini and artichoke dip happy hour The Golden Swan that Gareth Rees hipped us to, excitement for our friends at both Liar Liar and Gowanus Wine Merchants for a fun Saturday afternoon, and all our love to noreetuh Terroir NY and Pinch Chinese as always.
