SO, WHAT IS THIS BOOK ABOUT?
“My Fortunate Detour” chronicles the story of Jim Holland beginning with a childhood in the late-1960s / early-1970s in Dunbar, WV as a young fan passionately following all sports during seemingly every waking hour daily. Like many people, adulthood for him followed with college plus a decade of a corporate workforce routine through the end of the 1980s that provided him with a living but never satisfaction. This book unveils to the reader how things changed for Jim through a series of chance meetings and turns on his journey at exactly the right moments to alter his course in life for the next thirty years (1990-2020) to follow. Read here as Jim shares many stories of his experiences, as well as many of the people he met (players, fans, co-workers and more) over his long career in baseball administration for both professional and summer collegiate teams operating among the picturesque mountain landscape of southern West Virginia then the beginning of his transition to retirement. This book is more about the stories than the statistics and no way will you be receiving a statistics manual!
While, I do plan to make this book available on the Amazon platforms at a future date, for now I have ample stock of the perfect-bound paperback book here with me in Princeton and will be filling all orders myself in the beginning. I will be happy to autograph (upon request) any book that is being shipped to you or delivered directly from me and include another autographed goodie inside. HOW BIG IS THE BOOK AND HOW CAN I OBTAIN ONE?
The perfect-bound paperback book is 356 pages (page size 5.5" x 8.5") in length and is available for purchase at a base price of $23.50. Each book that can either be delivered locally by myself or picked up by you will have a total price (after adding state of West Virginia 6% sales tax) of $24.91 each. If your book needs to be shipped, there will be a one-time shipping charge of $5.00 to be added no matter where it is being shipped and if you choose to buy more than one book to ship, the overall one-time shipping charge will remain at $5.00 (example: if you order two books on one order, your overall shipping charge for the two books will remain at $5.00). So, for a single book to be shipped, your overall price would be $29.91.
