With UCMR5 underway many utilities across the country have already started ramping up sampling. PFAS has gotten the most attention in UCMR5 however there is one metal, lithium, that is also included. Lithium has been included as there is insufficient exposure data for lithium in drinking water. There is also limited information about long-term health effects of trace lithium in water. The June 2022 article in ๐ถโ„Ž๐‘’๐‘š๐‘œ๐‘ ๐‘โ„Ž๐‘’๐‘Ÿ๐‘’ on 'Lithium Occurrence in Drinking Water Sources of the United States', was authored by
Naush*ta Sharma, Paul Westerhoff, and Chao Zeng provides an overview of a study on the occurrence potential for lithium in US drinking water sources and can inform the data collection effort in UCMR 5.

Corona Environmental is pleased to have played a role in shaping the plan and having the opportunity to continue supporting this successful program.
