Learn about Hands Only CPR at Patriot Day this Sunday at Johnson-Springview Park!

The purpose of hands-only CPR is to manually pump blood and keep oxygen flowing to the brain and vital organs during sudden cardiac arrest until professional help arrives.

Key Goals

Maintain circulation:
Push blood through the body when the heart stops beating effectively.

Protect the brain:
Deliver the remaining oxygen in the bloodstream to the brain to prevent permanent damage.

Increase survival:
Double or triple a person's chance of survival by starting continuous chest compressions immediately.

Today, on the 25th anniversary of 9/11, we pause to honor the 2,977 souls lost—including 343 firefighters, 71 law enforcement officers, and 8 EMTs—and remember how a nation stood united in the face of tragedy.

A Timeline of Remembrance:

8:46 AM – Flight 11 strikes the WTC North Tower.

9:03 AM – Flight 175 strikes the WTC South Tower.

9:37 AM – Flight 77 crashes into the Pentagon.

9:59 AM – The South Tower collapses.

10:03 AM – Flight 93 crashes in Shanksville, PA, after passengers heroically fight back.

10:28 AM – The North Tower collapses.

In solemn remembrance of the lives lost, the heroes who responded, and the strength of the American spirit. We will . 🕊️

On this day… 25 years ago.

Thousands went to work in Lower Manhattan and at the Pentagon.
246 passengers and crew boarded their flights.
343 firefighters and paramedics began their shifts.
72 law enforcement officers reported for duty.

None of them knew what the morning would bring.

Nearly 3,000 people were killed that day.

And the loss did not end on September 11, 2001. In the years since, thousands of responders, survivors, and others exposed to the toxic dust and debris have developed serious, sometimes fatal, health conditions. The World Trade Center Health Program continues to provide care to tens of thousands affected by the attacks and aftermath.

We remember those we lost.
We honor those who served.
We will never forget.

Today marks the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. We remember the nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives, including 343 members of the FDNY, 37 Port Authority police officers, 23 NYPD officers, and the many others who responded with extraordinary courage and compassion.

For those of us in the fire service, September 11 carries a profound and lasting meaning. We honor the firefighters who climbed the stairs while others were evacuating, the dispatchers and public safety personnel who supported the response, and the countless individuals who served in the difficult days, months, and years that followed. We also remember those who later died or continue to suffer from illnesses connected to their service at Ground Zero.

Twenty-five years later, their example still calls us to serve with courage, humility, professionalism, and care for one another. The best way we can honor their sacrifice is by remaining ready, supporting our fellow firefighters and public safety partners, and serving the Rocklin community with integrity every day.

Please take a moment today to remember the fallen, reflect on the responsibilities we carry, and appreciate the people beside you who share this calling.
