On Mother’s Day, we recognize all moms—but especially the ones connected to this work.

The ones who raised protectors.
The ones who stand beside them now.

This job is demanding. Long hours, stress, missed time—and they carry it with us.

They may not wear the uniform, but they live this life too.
And none of this works without them.

A different level of appreciation.
Happy Mother’s Day.

THE MOST DANGEROUS THREAT TO YOUR POST… A CHAIR

Not a weapon.
Not a suspicious package.
Not even a person.

A chair.
Four legs.
One seat.
A backrest.

Looks harmless.

It’s not.

You’ve been on your feet all shift.
Feet hurt. Back tight.
You tell yourself, “Just a minute.”

You sit.

At first, you’re upright. Still “on post.”
Then the phone comes out.
Then the scroll.
Then the slouch.

An hour later?

You’re not protecting anything.
You’re just present.

⚠️ This isn’t just a security problem — it’s a protection mindset problem

Security = reacting when something happens.
Protection = preventing it from happening at all.

That chair quietly pulls you out of a protection mindset.

Your awareness drops
Your posture changes
Your speed slows
Your presence disappears

Even if you can react…

You will react slower.
And more importantly — you’re no longer a deterrent.

Presence is protection

The right posture, movement, and awareness do one thing better than anything else:

They make people think twice.

A slouched officer in a chair on their phone?

No one is thinking twice about anything.

If you’re sitting, distracted on your phone:

- What are you missing?

- What early indicators are walking right past you?

- How do you look to a client… or to someone looking for an opportunity?

Because they’re watching you too.

Avoid the chair. Don't sit unless there’s a clear operational reason
If you sit, stay engaged and intentional
Catch yourself getting comfortable — reset immediately
Stay moving. Stay scanning. Stay present

This job isn’t about comfort.
It’s about readiness and prevention.

If you are sitting in a chair now, on post and something kicked off right now…

- How fast are you getting out of that chair?
- How long until you’re fully engaged?
- And before that even happens… did your presence already fail to deter it?

We can do better.

Ditch the chair.
Own your presence.
Operate in a protection mindset — not a reaction mindset.

Everyone’s asking: “Is Signal compromised?”

What’s being reported isn’t so much that Signal is broken—it’s that people and devices are being targeted.

What’s actually happening
Most “compromises” are not encryption failures. They’re things like:

Phishing (fake links or login pages)

Stolen or unlocked phones

SIM swaps / account takeovers

Cloud backups exposing messages

Human error (screenshots, forwarding)

If your phone is compromised, every app on it is exposed.

What you can do

Turn on disappearing messages

Lock the app

Disable backups

Set a PIN

WhatsApp
WhatsApp is encrypted, but:

It’s owned by Meta

It collects metadata (who/when)

Backups can expose messages

Fine for everyday use. Not ideal for sensitive conversations.

The real lesson
Stop asking: “Which app is safest?”
Start asking: “Is my device and my behavior secure?”

Because the biggest risks are:

Using personal phones for sensitive work

Weak or no passcodes

Clicking links you shouldn’t

Keeping messages forever

Letting the wrong people into group chats

Suggestions to stay secure

Keep your phone updated

Use strong passcodes (not 4-digit)

Separate work and personal devices if possible

Use disappearing messages where appropriate

Don’t text what shouldn’t be written

Bottom line
Signal may not be the problem.
Poor security habits are.

The best encryption in the world won’t protect:

A compromised phone

A careless user

Or bad operational discipline

FBI warns Russian-linked hackers are targeting Signal users with phishing scams, compromising accounts by exploiting user behavior, not encryption flaws.

With war now underway overseas, fear here at home is understandable.

The most realistic homeland risks may fall into three categories:

1️⃣ Cyber Operations
Iran has consistently used cyber as a pressure tool. That can mean network disruption, ransomware-style attacks, financial sector probing, infrastructure targeting, or propaganda operations. Cyber activity can scale quickly and doesn’t require physical presence inside the country.

2️⃣ Grievance-Driven or Symbolic Attacks
When geopolitical tensions rise, so does the risk around:
• Large public gatherings
• Religious or diplomatic sites
• Politically symbolic events
• Highly visible public venues

Most active shooter events in the U.S. historically involve some form of grievance — personal, ideological, political, or social. Heightened global conflict can amplify grievance narratives for unstable individuals. That risk is real, but it is often self-directed rather than centrally coordinated.

3️⃣ Named Individuals
Iran has publicly referenced specific U.S. officials and figures for years. Open-source reporting has long noted threats toward certain individuals. Historically, when Iranian-linked plots have surfaced in the U.S., they have focused on targeted people rather than random population attacks.

Now, regarding “sleeper cells” — large, synchronized operations require logistics, funding, secure communications, operational discipline, and long-term coordination. That kind of structure is difficult to hide at scale inside the United States.

That does not mean zero risk. It means that if something were to occur domestically, it is statistically more likely to be:
• Cyber-related
• Targeted
• Grievance-amplified
• Small-scale but symbolic

Fear spreads faster than facts in moments like this. Don’t let headlines make decisions for you.

Stay informed, stay alert, stay disciplined. Eyes up and situationally aware.

The massive strikes launched by the U.S. and Israel on Saturday -- dubbed "Operation Epic Fury" by American forces -- have been in the works for the past several months.

Travel Smart. Don’t Be an Easy Target.

Airport theft is usually about opportunity — not sophistication.

• Hard cases (Pelican-style) protect gear, but can also signal valuables. Go durable — but neutral and low-profile.
• Avoid flashy logos or tactical-looking luggage.
• Hide valuables inside lining pockets or concealed compartments.
• Drop an Apple AirTag or similar tracker inside your bag.
• TSA locks may deter casual tampering — but they’re not true security. Focus more on discretion and awareness.
• Keep passport, wallet, and essentials on your person.
• Stay alert — thieves look for distraction.

Security is layered.
Be discreet. Be intentional.

Not paranoid. Prepared.

Travel Security: 5 Ways to Avoid Theft at the Airport

02/23/2026

Years of decriminalization.
Minimal support for law enforcement.
Questionable leadership decisions.
Agendas that seem disconnected from reality.
Warning signs ignored.
A severe police staffing shortage.

Other jurisdictions are hiring successfully while MCPD struggles to recruit and retain. This has long been a respected, sought-after department in a highly desirable county.

What is happening?
Are we going to wait until it’s too late to course-correct?

Trend We’re Seeing While Hiring Protectors

Something interesting is happening with applicant photos.

Many of the bio/headshots we receive now look nearly identical:

• Warmer/tan skin tone
• Fuller lips
• Extremely smooth skin
• Slight “lip color” effect — even on men
• Highly symmetrical features

Same flag background. It’s clearly AI-enhanced or heavily filtered.

We see the ads on social media. They look amazing.

Messy hair fixed.
Background removed.
Skin cleaned up.
Lighting adjusted.
Bam — instant “corporate” headshot.

And for marketing? Some of them truly are impressive.

But that’s not what we’re seeing on current resumes and bios. In many cases, we’re seeing the JV version — or maybe the cheap/free option — and it’s not getting the job done the way it’s shown in the social media ads.

What we’re seeing is a growing gap between the photo and the person who shows up.

In executive protection, authenticity matters.

Clients expect presence, credibility, and professionalism — not a polished avatar. When someone walks in looking noticeably different from their bio photo, it can create friction before they even speak.

We’re not looking for perfect.
We’re looking for real.

As professionals, investing in a real headshot might feel awkward. Paying for a photographer. Standing in front of a camera. Taking it seriously.

But it may also be worth the investment.

Your image is part of your brand.
Your brand is part of your credibility.
And credibility is everything in this industry.

Be recognizable.
Be credible.
Be authentic.

“Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.”

Most disaster prep lists focus on gear.

This OffGrid article highlights something important: the most neglected preps aren’t gadgets — they’re planning, skills, sanitation, and fitness.

If you combine that with what we see during real events (hurricanes, ice storms, grid failures), here’s what actually matters:

1. Have a plan — and test it.
Not just supplies. Who’s picking up the kids? Where do you meet? When do you leave?

2. Water access, not just bottled water.
Know how to shut off your main. Know how to drain your water heater. Fill tubs before impact.

3. Sanitation plan.
If water fails, toilets stop. Have a backup waste plan and hygiene supplies.

4. Prescription & medical buffer.
Pharmacies close fast. Keep 7–14 days of essentials if possible.

5. Climate control strategy.
Four days without AC in July or heat in January will stress families quickly. Designate one “climate room.”

6. Vehicle readiness.
Keep your tank above half. Know alternate routes. Have paper maps.

7. Information discipline.
When power goes out, rumors spread faster than damage. Have a NOAA radio and trusted sources.

8. Fitness & capability.
Can you carry water upstairs? Clear debris? Help a neighbor?

9. Organization.
If you can’t find it in the dark in 60 seconds, you don’t actually have it.

10. Documentation for recovery.
Photos of your home. Insurance copies offline. The disaster isn’t just survival — it’s the aftermath.

The hardest phase isn’t during the storm.

It’s 48–96 hours after — when power is still out, supplies thin, and frustration rises.

Preparedness isn’t paranoia.
It’s leadership for your household.

As you make preps for the next wave of long-term survival, learn what essential items you might be forgetting. Read on below:

A lot of people are disconnecting or even destroying their Ring cameras after renewed privacy concerns.

This isn’t just social media panic. Ring has previously paid millions in settlements over employee access to customer footage. New AI features and expanded data-sharing capabilities are raising fresh concerns about how video is stored, searched, and potentially accessed by third parties.

As Dan Bongino and others have pointed out, convenience always comes with tradeoffs. The question isn’t whether cameras add security — they do. The question is: who else can access that data?

Takeaways:
• Review your privacy settings
• Enable multi-factor authentication
• Understand law enforcement access policies
• Consider systems with local (not just cloud) storage

Security should provide peace of mind — not new risks you didn’t account for.

🚨 Your neighbor's Ring doorbell is scanning your face every time you walk by. And storing it in Amazon's cloud for six months.

Even if you've never owned a Ring camera or agreed to Amazon's terms, your faceprint is being collected. Ring's Familiar Faces feature doesn't recognize only people who live there. It scans EVERYONE who passes by.

You. Your kids. Mail carriers. Dog walkers. Everyone.

Ring partners with over 2,600 police departments and feeds directly into the same software used by ICE and the Secret Service.

You never agreed to this surveillance. But it's happening anyway. 👁️
