EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT WEEK OF MARCH 22ND, 2023
ANGELA LAWSON
This week’s Employee Spotlight is on Angela Lawson. Angela is our Inventory Control Specialist Lead and, in this role, she oversees vendor verifications, cycle counts, expired materials and quantity adjustments. Angela and her team also keep our warehouses organized. In her four plus years being employed by FillTech, Angela says her biggest work accomplishment is the knowledge that she has gained while working here. The part of her job that Angela likes the most would be the great people she gets to work with. She says there is never a dull moment here.
“Keep Trying” is Angela’s personal mantra and she says she keeps trying to be a better person and she tries to do better for herself as well. This self-proclaimed “Big Kid” is very handy with tools and used to do all the maintenance on her car. Angela is a cancer survivor who is motivated by her seven kids and 4 grandkids, with one on the way. Three words that Angela would use to describe herself would be, “tender-hearted, sarcastic and stubborn” and her definition of success is having stability in life. There are two people that really inspire Angela. The first is a lady at FillTech, who Angela wishes to keep anonymous. She says this person has been through some of the same experiences that she has gone through, but a lot worse, and she has never lost her faith in God. The other person who inspires Angela is her 80-year-old daddy. He is the most giving person Angela has ever known and he has overcome so much in his life but, through it all, he always puts other people’s needs before his own.
Angela loves to watch ghost shows. Her favorites are Ghost Hunters and Amy and Adam. Angela has had more than her share of paranormal activities in her life. There are two stories that really stand out to her. Angela and her family used to live on property, that had once belonged to her husband’s grandfather. One day, while Angela was home alone, she was watching television and, at that time, the tv was on a glass front cabinet. She glanced away from the tv and saw, in the reflection of the glass, a large man with a hat on, leaning on the door frame going into the kitchen. She could see that he was just standing there watching her. When she turned around to look, there was no one there. Later, she told her husband what she had seen, and after describing what the man looked like, Angela’s husband exclaimed that was exactly what his grandfather looked like! Another time, Angela’s daughter was in her room practicing a song for her chorus class in school. She was recording herself singing the song and when she played it back, there was a man’s voice singing along with her. Angela’s daughter came running to her, and shakingly played it for Angela to hear. Come to find out, that was one of the grandfather’s favorite songs. It’s no wonder Angela is drawn to ghost shows!
The person that Angela would love to meet would be her paternal grandfather. He passed away when Angela’s dad was twelve. Her grandfather had an article written about his heroic achievements, during World War II, in the Salisbury Post. He survived many close call encounters, one of them being shot in the top of his head. The article talks about how he and 13 other American soldiers were captured by the Germans and held captive for ten days. During the ten days of captivity, the American soldiers were able to communicate with the German soldiers. They not only talked their captives into freeing them, but they convinced them that things were so much better on the American side, that the German soldiers went with them! Angela’s grandfather, after several years of struggling, died from complications due to his WWII injuries.
Angela’s greatest fear is that people will get to know the real Angela. Well, what we know of you Angela, we absolutely love and we are proud that you are a part of our FillTech Family.
