Dating profile:

Name - Copperhead

County of Residence - All of them

Likes - Sunbathing, hiding in wooded and rocky areas, hunting for prey, sporting these awesome hershey kisses all over my body.

Dislikes - Being handled by humans. I'm actually really shy. Unless you're an unlucky rodent or lizard, I have a real "live and let live" personality, but don't mistake my kindness for weakness. Not big on cuddles.

Final thoughts - I really just want to be left alone. I honestly didn't want to do a dating profile. My sister put me up to this.

Seen an opossum in your neighborhood? Opossums are common residents in neighborhoods and pose little danger to people or pets, but are often misunderstood and maligned by those unfamiliar with them and the many benefits they provide.

Somewhat like nature’s vacuum cleaners, opossums can eat thousands of ticks in a week and will also feast on cockroaches, snails, slugs, snakes, mice and rats. Additionally, opossums are highly resistant to contracting rabies.

Did you know that Eastern cottontails build their nests on the ground in shallow depressions, often in the middle of lawns or garden beds?

Rabbit moms only visit their young for about five minutes twice a day, and never approach when people are around. So don't assume a rabbit nest is abandoned just because the mother is not around. When in doubt, leave it alone!

Do you know your snakes?

Copperheads are important ecologically as both predator and prey in the food chain. They are also constantly misidentified by the public due to their similarities to other snakes. Can you spot the copperhead?

If you said #3, you're right on the money!

1. Eastern Cottonmouth (venomous)
2. Eastern Cottonmouth (venomous)
