**MISSING CHILD - PLEASE SHARE**

**UPDATE** - Damian Sollas, the child who was reported missing from Commack on January 27, may be traveling with his parents in a box truck with Lite House Electrical written on the side.

Suffolk County Police Fourth Squad detectives are seeking the public’s help to locate a child who was reported missing after his mother failed to surrender custody to Child Protective Services earlier this month.

Selina Elswick was scheduled to return her 3-year-old son, Damian Sollas, to Suffolk County Family Court in Central Islip on January 22 and failed to appear. When representatives from CPS attempted to take custody of the child at their residence in Commack on January 27, it was discovered that the two had moved out of the residence on January 16. CPS then contacted the Suffolk County Police Department to report the child missing.

Elswick, 32, is white, 5 feet 6 inches tall, approximately 150 pounds with red hair and brown eyes. Sollas is white, approximately 40 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. The two may be in the company of the child’s father, Thomas Sollas, 43, and may be traveling in a box truck with writing on it.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call Fourth Squad detectives at 631-854-8452 or 911.

***SCPD OFFICERS RESCUE PIGS ON SUNRISE***

Suffolk County Police Fifth Precinct sergeants and police officers rescued three pigs that escaped from a trailer on Sunrise Highway this morning.

Suffolk County Police Fifth Precinct Sergeant Theodore Martinez was driving a marked police vehicle eastbound on Sunrise Highway, near Broadway Avenue in Sayville, when he observed what he thought was a pig on the side of the road. Sergeant Martinez then saw a Hummer, with an attached trailer that was open with one pig inside. Sergeant Martinez pulled over the vehicle and the operator stated she was transporting four pigs to an animal rescue and was unaware three pigs had escaped.

Sergeant Peter Hansen, Fifth Precinct Officers Michael Sheehan, Brian Drew, John Jantzen, Patrick O’Callaghan and Alison Hall also responded and with assistance from employees of the Sayville Animal Hospital and employees of the Town of Islip, they located each pig at separate locations on Sunrise Highway between Bohemia and Sayville.

The pigs appeared uninjured and were taken for evaluation to the Evelyn Alexander Wildlife Rescue Center in East Quogue, the original destination.

We have received numerous concerns about the recent bail reform laws that have been passed by NYS legislators.

While we do not take sides on any political issues, we have seen the effects that this law has had quite recently in our communities.

There was a fatal DWI on the William Floyd Parkway that occurred early in the morning on January 12th which was just this past Sunday. The person who was driving while intoxicated had 3 prior DWI convictions and should never have had a chance to be behind the wheel. Our deepest condolences go out to the family of the victim of that fatal crash which in our view was 100% preventable.

We feel that this is an issue that transcends any political connotations because it could affect anyone at any time.

If you feel strongly about getting your representatives to enact change, contact them immediately.
