90 seconds per pallet. Operator standing in active forklift traffic. Scanner in hand. 48 to 120 cases to work through, one at a time.

That was the process. It wasn't unusual — it's a scenario that plays out in distribution centers everywhere. And it's exactly the kind of situation safety teams lose sleep over.

The fix wasn't a new process. It was automating the one that already existed.

AbeTech implemented the Gatekeeper Rotary — a scan tower integrated with the facility's existing stretch-wrap station. As the pallet spins during wrapping, the system reads all case barcodes in a single revolution, associates them with a pallet license plate ID, and confirms the scan complete.

The result:
— Scan time: 90 seconds → under 10 seconds
— Operator: removed from the forklift zone entirely
— Data flow: directly into the WMS, no manual entry
— Downstream: a single license plate scan replaces case-by-case scanning at every subsequent location
