Well, it’s been over a year since I’ve shared an update on the blog.

Goodness, what a year it’s been!

So much has changed here at Poor Valley Creek. We’ve planted, built, grown, welcomed new life, said some difficult goodbyes, celebrated milestones, made plenty of mistakes, and learned more than we ever imagined.

Somewhere between the sore muscles, dirty boots, unfinished projects, and moments that take our breath away, this place has slowly become something more than a dream.

It’s become home. ❤️

I finally sat down and attempted to summarize the past twelve months in words. Fair warning, it’s a long one! Apparently, we’ve been a little busy. 😂

If you’ve been following our journey, thank you for being part of it. And if you’re curious about what we’ve been up to, grab a cup of coffee (or a glass of w**e 🍷), get comfortable, and come along for the ride.

There’s still so much ahead of us, but one thing this first year has taught us is that we don’t have to wait until everything is finished to enjoy the life we’ve worked so hard to create.

Here’s to the journey, the lessons, and learning to let the land lead. 🌿❤️

And somehow, almost without us noticing, someday became today. Poor Valley Creek Vineyard has stopped being the place we were building toward. It has become the life we are actually living .

Sometimes love looks like muddy work pants, a belly rub, and one little paw saying, “Don’t stop.” ❤️

A little farm milestone for our Zeus last weekend. 🥹🐾❤️

This boy has always been pretty nervous around four-wheelers and ATVs, so seeing him hop in with Dad for his very first ride back to the barn was a pretty big deal!

Meanwhile, Diesel and I were making the trek on foot…while Zeus apparently decided that overcoming your fears should come with VIP transportation. 😂

Special treatment from Dad, a ride in style, and one more little fear conquered. Way to go, Zeus! ❤️🐾

Sometimes what has completed its purpose becomes shelter for something else. The dried stalk still has value. The garden is still alive even as one season fades. And this little snail has found exactly what it needs among what we might otherwise pull up and discard.

An ending can still be extraordinarily alive. 🌅🐌🍂 🍁

Dave’s been back on the vineyard hill, expanding the grapevine trellis system and making room for what’s still to come. 🍇 Meanwhile, there are eggs to gather (a shirt works just fine when you forget a basket 😂), animals to check on, and those little moments when you look across the field and see Janie and Red with the barn behind them and think…this is home❣️

There’s always something being built, planted, fixed, gathered, fed, or loved around here.

Nothing super fancy. Just another few days of life at Poor Valley Creek Vineyard—and somehow, these ordinary days are becoming some of my favorites. ❤️🌿🍇🍷🎶🚜🪏💪🐔🐈🐽🐾🐴✨

The new vines got a little extra attention from Dave this afternoon. 🌱✨

We planted these babies this spring, so we know we have some waiting to do—a good harvest is still a few years down the road. But a handful of the vines decided to give us the tiniest little preview of what’s to come.

And those few little Vidal Blanc grapes? Oh my goodness…so sweet and delicious! 😋

There’s something pretty special about tasting a grape from a vine you just tucked into the earth a few months ago. It may only be a tiny cluster, but it sure feels like a little promise of things to come here at Poor Valley Creek Vineyard. 🍇🍷

Plant now. Tend patiently. Trust what’s growing.💚💫
