Thank you to all residents practicing water conservation these past 24 hours. Your efforts helped make supplies last while our local utility cooperative worked diligently with other crews to restore line power to our local area. Our water system is recovering slowly as water storage tanks are refilled. We also thank you for your patience and understanding during this time. 💯

Water update: our crews have switched all stations without power to generator power. These stations are now pushing water south toward Mission 18-83 tank. We will start pushing water south toward the Sicangu Village once this tank level reaches a sustainable level. We will encourage everyone to continue practicing water conservation measures until the Cherry Todd power has been restored. This may take a few days so our stations will continue to use generator power in the meantime. Thank you again for your consideration and patience.

Water system update: our Sicangu Mni Wiconi system repair was completed late last evening. The system started to refill and recover just before the storm. The wind knocked down over 70 power poles in Mellete Co. Our back up generator started but failed shortly thereafter so our system storage is low. It will take some time for the water to start flowing into these affected areas again. Please continue to practice water conservation measures. We will update the public once we get more information. Thank you for your consideration and patience.

Our department has been updated regarding a water main line repair ongoing south of Ft.Pierre. The repair is still under construction and our system storage is low. We are asking the public to conserve water until further notice. Areas on the system include the following: Two Kettle, Swift Bear, Horse Creek, Black Pipe, Corn Creek, City of Mission, South Mission, Olsonville, and Sicangu Village. We recommend essential use only. No recreation watering please. This conservation notice will be temporary or until the repair is complete and our core system recharges. Updates will be posted upon notice from the core line. Thank you for your support and understanding.

Sicangu Mni Wiconi users in the communities: Horse Creek, Swift Bear, Black Pipe, and Corn Creek have experienced water color in the system over the past few days. Our on call water operator flushed the water system over the weekend in Black Pipe and Corn Creek. We will be back out today to continue our flushing operation. Our goal is to rid the system from any water discoloration. We are pleased to report all recent bacteria samples collected on the Sicangu Mni Wiconi system were safe at the time of sampling. Our department will continue To work through this issue as high temps and high flow rates recede. We appreciate your patience and consideration. Updates will be posted as our work continues.

Mission, South Mission and Sicangu Village residents: our water system storage is low so we are asking your help to conserve water for the next few days until the water system fully recovers from our recent blackout. The upcoming high temps will also add additional stress to the system. Please try to pause unnecessary outdoor and recreational watering until further notice. This water conservation post will be temporary until the storage tanks fill completely. We will post with updates. Thank you for your consideration and understanding.

City of Mission and South Mission area to Sicangu Village are seeing low water pressures due to a low tank level. We have had full flow into our storage tank for nearly three hours now. Water mains are filling as our storage tank fills. Pressures will gradually increase as the tank level gets higher. SV residents will also see declining pressure as your local water tank level is low. We will be able to pump water south through our pump station once inlet pressure to the booster rises. This will take time so please be patient. We are in recovery mode after a long period without any water flow from our parent system in Ft. Pierre. The entire system was severely stressed but will recover slowly. Thank you for your consideration.
