Heavy rainfall and potential flooding is becoming an increasing concern for the upcoming work week. Rain is likely to return Monday night and continue periodically through much of the work week. Total rainfall amounts of at least 2-4 inches are expected, which combined with already wet soils, could lead to areal and river flooding later this week. Stay tuned to the forecast over the coming days!

🚜 6 TO 8 FOOT TALL CORN STALKS AND NOT SLOWING DOWN ARE MAKING RURAL INTERSECTIONS VERY DANGEROUS RIGHT NOW TILL AFTER HARVEST.

The corn is now 6 - 8 feet tall in many locations in Nebraska. Many rural road intersections have no yield or stop signs, an unprotected intersection. Right now till harvest treat every intersection with tall corn as a 4 way stop. Many farmers plant corn on State and County road ditches, which make these intersections more dangerous. Drivers are not slowing down at these rural intersections.

OUTDATED POST

ANOTHER ROUND OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS FRIDAY

Once again, we will have the battle of the "Haves and have nots" this evening, where some will experience large hail and damaging winds, while some experience absolutely nothing. Now, if you happen to be in the risk areas - which is pretty much everyone, you need to remain weather aware through the overnight hours. While the concentration of most of the severe thunderstorms look to be in the orange area (Enhanced Risk - 3/5), storms will be present in other areas as well.

What about my/our fireworks display tonight?
While the previous 24 hours didn't look promising in terms of dry conditions for most of the Tri-Cities area and east to Lincoln and Omaha for this evening, today's trend is to keep everything generally east of Highway 14 (Superior, Clay Center, Aurora, Central City) until after 10 pm to 12 am. Could this change? Yes.

Threats
Areas in the Enhanced Risk mainly face a damaging wind threat, with winds up to 70 mph and also hail up to the size of golf balls. While the tornado threat is not zero, it is on the low side this evening.

Live coverage
We're on standby as always.

Never light fireworks near power lines. If a line falls, stay far away and call professionals immediately. 🎆⚡

Be aware of storms this afternoon. Stay safe and be aware of winds that can blow objects, inflated toys and slides and if you plan on attending a large gathering event make sure you have a safe way to get to shelter.

Large crowds makes bad weather events more dangerous.

Stay tuned to local media and if the storms come into the area, plan on staying home.

Storms appear to be in the area from 4pm untill midnight.
