Some fear the unknown, but empowered midlifers embrace it with curiosity and courage 💪

They know it’s where true growth happens at any age.

Sometimes we need a little help from our friends...🎵🎵

Friends, family, or a mentor can get you there faster. After all, time is of the essence, right?

How to Give Feedback to Someone Who's Defensive:

Example, you have a friend who’s constantly overwhelmed by all the things they have to do.

They can’t stop complaining about all their "issues" every time you meet. From your perspective, you can clearly see the problem, but you know your friend gets defensive and snaps back. What can you do?

In my experience with conflict resolution, I’ve learned that everyone is at least 10% correct in any situation. Before jumping in with your feedback, take a moment to acknowledge the 10% you agree with. Yes, you can find it... Try hard 🥰

Start with this acknowledgment—it opens them up to hearing what else you have to say. Then, add your feedback. It could go something like this…

🛠️I really like how dedicated you are to helping your grown children and being there for them. I can see how much it means to you. And maybe if you set aside just a little bit of time for yourself, it could help you feel less overwhelmed. It will also strengthen your relationship with them as they’ll see you’ve set some boundaries, but you’ll be so much calmer in your interactions that they might even start to model your example.

🧐See what I did here...

Can you see how this sets a positive tone with your friend and helps to shift their mindset away from defensiveness?

By leading with what’s working, the person is more open to constructive feedback. This practice has served me well!
What’s your experience in these types of situations?

When Fear & Self-Doubt Trick You Into Submission: You Are In Survival Mode.

Fear is an essential emotion that shows up as a response to a perceived threat. Its job, deeply rooted in your subconscious, is to protect you. But more often than not, it’s working against you—because there’s no real danger, only unresolved situations from the past.

Instead of safeguarding you, it steps in just when you're on the verge of something new, pulling you back into the safety of the familiar.
Your mind clings to what it knows, even when it no longer serves you. But here’s the truth: moving forward means stepping into the unknown and challenging those old patterns.

There are 3 simple (but not easy) ways to break free:
1. Acknowledge Your Fear: Recognize it for what it is—a protective mechanism, not a prophecy. Don’t try to ignore it. Simply naming your fear can diminish its power.

2. Challenge the Story: Ask yourself, “Is this fear based on my present reality or a past experience?” Challenge the narrative and replace it with one that supports your growth.

3. Take Small, Brave Steps: Fear thrives in the shadows of inaction. By taking even the smallest step forward, you show your mind that the unknown isn’t as scary as it seems.

BONUS 4th Step: Find someone to guide you through proven processes to eliminate the limiting beliefs at the root of your fears.

You can do it yourself—there's nothing you can't spend days > months > years > Googling —but a trained professional can guide you through it faster, with ease, and the right one will even make the process fun!

✨ Are you the one who always puts everyone else first, only to feel drained and unseen at the end of the day? (I 👀 you)

✨ Trying to keep everyone happy might seem noble, but it often leads to losing sight of what you truly need. It also makes them dismissive of what makes “you” happy. (I 👀 you)

✨And that loneliness? It creeps in when you're always saying "yes" to others and "no" to yourself. (I 👀 you)

✨ It's time to shift the narrative. Reclaim your voice, honor your needs, and start living authentically. Because your happiness isn't selfish—it's necessary. 💪

Stop people-pleasing and start embracing your true self? 💫

Coaching Moment: What Not To Do To A Loyal Customer!

I love giving genuine heartfelt feedback when a company does something right. I feel we all jump so fast to post something negative, that I intentionally look for moments to share my thoughts when I’ve had a good experience.

Without mentioning company names, I spent considerable time and effort to send a letter to Company XYZ to show my sincere appreciation for them going out of their way to help my particular case.

I even mentioned the names of some people who were especially helpful and asked that my note be shared with them to possibly brighten their day. Here’s their response (redacted to protect their identity).

Ask yourself this: Are you moving away from pain? OR Are you moving towards pleasure?
I recently worked with a client (Liz) who felt stuck in a loop of constantly putting out fires in her life. She was always running from one problem to the next:
• Saying “Yes” to every work request, even though she’s an undervalued employee. She spends hours off-the-clock.
• Voice of reason in family disputes. Spends hours calling each party.
• Voluntarily handling running errands for her aging parents. Spends hours asking if there’s anything else she can do.
• Staying up to date with friends by scrolling Facebook Feeds. Spends useless hours.

During our session, I asked her a simple question: "Are you moving away from pain, or are you moving towards pleasure?" It hit her hard—she realized that every decision she made was about escaping discomfort, never about pursuing joy.
All of this was to avoid the illusion of “pain” of pursuing what she was really passionate about, but never felt she was “good enough” for…
We are now working on busting that limiting belief. How about you? What pain are you avoiding?
