"Do they work?"

We hear that question a lot when people see AI-powered audio warnings.

Here's a quick real-world example.

Two individuals approached a restricted area. The MSU issued an automated warning. They stopped, reconsidered their plans, and walked away.

No confrontation.
No incident.
No property damage.
No dispatch required.

Sometimes the best security outcome is the one that never becomes an incident.

The video says it all.

Yes, they do.

Back in the classroom this week, providing de-escalation and violence avoidance training to a group of municipal code enforcement officers.

These professionals aren't traditional law enforcement officers, but they routinely find themselves in challenging situations. They're asked to enter communities, conduct inspections, enforce regulations, and issue citations that can cost property owners money, delay projects, or create significant frustration.

That means they're often delivering news people don't want to hear.

The ability to communicate effectively, recognize escalating behavior, and safely navigate conflict isn't just a valuable skill, it's an essential one.

I have a tremendous amount of respect for the work these officers do. They help maintain standards, protect public health and safety, and improve the quality of life in our communities, often without the resources or recognition afforded to other public safety professionals.

If we're going to ask them to work in potentially volatile situations, we owe them the training and tools to do it safely.

Illegal dumping isn’t just an eyesore. It’s a direct hit to your property’s operating budget.

Every mattress, couch, pile of construction debris, or dumpster-diving incident creates real costs:

• Cleanup and hauling fees
• Maintenance staff time
• Tenant complaints and retention issues
• Increased security concerns
• Property appearance and reputation damage

In California alone, local governments spend tens of millions of dollars annually cleaning up illegally dumped waste, while private property owners are often left covering the costs themselves.

That’s why proactive enforcement matters.

𝗡𝗢𝗧𝗘: 𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗦 𝗩𝗜𝗗𝗘𝗢 𝗪𝗔𝗦 𝗡𝗢𝗧 𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗚𝗘𝗗. 𝗜𝗧 𝗪𝗔𝗦 𝗘𝗗𝗜𝗧𝗘𝗗 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗨𝗦𝗘 𝗕𝗨𝗧 𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗦 𝗜𝗦 𝗘𝗫𝗔𝗖𝗧𝗟𝗬 𝗛𝗢𝗪 𝗜𝗧 𝗛𝗔𝗣𝗣𝗘𝗡𝗘𝗗.

Recently, our MSU and Guard teams intercepted individuals attempting illegal dumping and dumpster diving before the problem escalated. Stopping these incidents in real time helps prevent repeat activity, reduce cleanup expenses, and protect the image of the property for residents, customers, and prospective tenants.

What makes this even more significant is the size of this site. It's a large property with multiple areas of concern, and no single guard can maintain eyes on every corner at all times. This type of environment requires more than manpower alone.

By combining on-site security officers with AI-assisted monitoring and dedicated in-house monitoring personnel, we create a powerful force multiplier. The technology helps identify activity as it occurs, the monitoring team verifies and escalates it, and the guard is able to respond quickly and effectively where they're needed most.

This isn't a one-time occurrence at this location. It happens daily. Without a layered security approach, many of these incidents would go unnoticed until cleanup crews or tenants discovered the damage.

The reality is simple: prevention is almost always less expensive than cleanup.

If illegal dumping, dumpster diving, or after-hours trespassing is becoming a recurring issue at your property, it may be time to evaluate your security and deterrence strategy. The right combination of personnel, technology, and proactive monitor

I was recently reviewing letters of recommendation from current and former clients while preparing a proposal for a prospective client.

As I read through them, one theme kept appearing over and over:

𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲.

Not that we're the biggest. Not that we're the cheapest. Not that we're perfect.

Responsive.

When a client had a problem, we responded with a solution.
When we had a problem with one of our own people, we addressed it.
When circumstances changed, we adapted.

I've always told clients, "We're not perfect. We're professional."

Over the past few weeks, I've made commitments to several clients that we would have programs installed and operational by specific dates. Then some of our vendors missed their deadlines.

We had a choice.
We could explain why we were late.
Or we could find a way to keep our promise.

So we found alternative vendors, paid significantly more for the same products, and delivered on our commitments.

It hurt our margins.

But it protected something far more valuable: trust.

Most of those clients will never know what happened behind the scenes. They won't know we paid more. They won't know we had to scramble. They'll simply know that we did what we said we would do.

And that's the part that got me thinking.

In business today, have we lowered the bar so much that simply doing what we say we're going to do has become a competitive advantage?

I don't know if Safe Choice Security is incredible.

I just know that when we make a commitment, we work very hard to keep it.

If you want to see why builders, property managers, public utilities, state and local municipalities and private corporations are choosing Safe Choice for ALL their security needs, send me a message.

As a California-based security company deploying solar-powered surveillance units, we’ll admit that working in the Seattle area made us think a little differently.

Last week, Safe Choice deployed two Mobile Surveillance Units in the Pacific Northwest to support a client facing ongoing security concerns. But unlike California deployments, we knew we couldn’t rely on consistent sunlight alone.

So we engineered the deployment differently.

Both units were equipped with generator backups to ensure uninterrupted protection regardless of weather conditions.

That’s what we mean when we say Safe Choice approaches every project differently. We don’t believe in one-size-fits-all security solutions. Every property, environment, and client challenge is unique, and we build systems designed specifically for the conditions on the ground.

Real security means planning for what could go wrong before it does.

We don’t usually advertise the hard parts of the job.

Last week, Safe Choice deployed a Mobile Surveillance Unit for a large municipal client after their public works team experienced theft and vandalism affecting critical infrastructure.

We were able to respond quickly and get the unit on site, but after two mornings of remote monitoring, our team noticed something was wrong: the unit wasn’t charging properly and was at risk of going offline.

That’s where service matters.

It took multiple trips, troubleshooting in the field, and working through the holiday weekend, but our team kept the site protected the entire time.

We know what it feels like to hear, “Sorry, no one is available because it’s a holiday weekend.”

That’s not how we operate.

When a client trusts Safe Choice to help protect critical assets, we take that responsibility seriously, weekdays, weekends, and holidays included.

Last week, Safe Choice was in Washington supporting a property management client dealing with ongoing camping and trespassing concerns at a retail property.

One thing we’ve learned working with commercial and multifamily properties across the western U.S. is that every site is different but clients everywhere want the same thing: safe, clean, accessible properties for their tenants, customers, and employees.

Washington’s unofficial motto, “Alki,” means “by and by” or “into the future.” That felt fitting as Safe Choice continues expanding to support more property owners and managers throughout the region.

When a client asks if we can support a property, our answer is simple: we do what’s needed. Whether it’s trespassing, encampments, security concerns, or environmental hazards, we help property teams respond quickly, professionally, and compassionately while protecting their assets and operations.

Property management is changing fast, and the challenges facing retail, industrial, office, and multifamily sites continue to evolve. We’re proud to be a trusted partner helping clients navigate those realities every day.

In the last seven days, the Safe Choice team has supported clients across Portland, Oakland, Los Angeles, Long Beach, Sacramento, Culver City, San Jose. Next week we head to Seattle and back to Portland.

This week alone we:

• Deployed new Mobile Security Units (MSUs) for a client in Alameda, California
• Added time-lapse video monitoring for a construction project in Oakland
• Staffed a new Sacramento site with trained security professionals
• Delivered de-escalation and workplace violence prevention training for municipal code enforcement officers
• Prepared another violence prevention course for social workers this Friday
• Consulted with commercial and corporate clients on safety, security, and risk mitigation strategies
• Began the first phase of encampment mitigation and property recovery for a new commercial property client

Property managers, construction firms, municipalities, and HR teams are all facing increasingly complex safety challenges from trespassing and encampments to workplace violence prevention and site security.

Our job is to provide practical solutions that reduce risk, protect people, and keep operations moving.
