Medium voltage termination is one of the most unforgiving tasks in the electrical trade. Get it right and the system runs reliably for decades. Get it wrong and the consequences can be catastrophic.

Here is what most people outside the trade don't fully appreciate about MV terminations:

Voltage stress doesn't stop at the conductor. Where the insulation ends, electrical stress concentrates. That concentration is why a proper stress cone or engineered stress control device is non-negotiable. Without it, partial discharge begins quietly degrading the insulation until the system fails, often without warning.

Cleanliness is everything. Any contamination, moisture, or irregular cut in the insulation shield creates a path for failure. We are talking micron-level precision on materials carrying thousands of volts.

The right materials for the voltage class matter. A termination designed for 5kV does not belong on a 15kV or 25kV system. Matching the termination kit to the exact cable construction and voltage rating is a step that cannot be skipped or substituted.

Proper dielectric testing after installation is the final checkpoint. A termination that looks correct can still have voids or improper interfaces that will fail under load. Testing confirms the work before the system is energized.

At Tri C Electric, our team is trained and experienced in medium voltage work across commercial and industrial applications. We treat every MV termination with the discipline it demands because the stakes are too high for shortcuts.

If your facility has aging medium voltage infrastructure or upcoming MV work, let's talk.

Most electrical failures don't happen overnight.

They start with small signs that are easy to brush off:

- Breakers tripping more than once
- Lights flickering or dimming unexpectedly
- Outlets that feel warm to the touch
- A faint burning smell near your panel

These aren't just nuisances. They're warnings.

For commercial properties, ignoring them can mean unexpected downtime, costly emergency repairs, or worse — a serious safety hazard for your team and customers.

A proactive electrical inspection typically costs a fraction of what a single emergency repair runs. It gives you a clear picture of where your system stands and what, if anything, needs attention before it becomes a problem.

At Tri C Electric, we've built our reputation on honest assessments and quality work — no upsells, no surprises. Just straightforward expertise backed by licensed professionals who treat every job like it's their own.

When did your facility last have an electrical inspection? Drop a comment or send me a message — happy to answer any questions.

🇺🇸 Happy 250th Birthday, America! 🇺🇸

This weekend we celebrate 250 years of freedom, grit, innovation, and opportunity. From the founding of our nation in 1776 to the work being done across America today, we’re grateful to be part of the people who keep this country powered every day.

At Tri C Electric, we believe that building a stronger America starts with showing up, doing quality work, serving others, and leaving every job better than we found it.

To all the linemen, electricians, first responders, military members, veterans, healthcare workers, and everyone working this Independence Day—we thank you for keeping America moving.

As we celebrate our nation’s 250th birthday, let’s remember the sacrifices that secured our freedom and continue building a future worthy of those who came before us.

Happy Independence Day!

Cheaper Isn’t Better. It’s Just Cheaper.

These overheated receptacles weren’t a fluke.
They were pulled from commercial applications where standard 15-amp residential receptacles were installed instead of 20-amp commercial-rated devices.

The result:
• 🔥 Overheating
• ⏱️ Unplanned downtime
• ⚙️ Increased stress on connected equipment
• 🚨 Real fire hazard

Cutting corners on electrical components doesn’t save money—it shifts the cost to repairs, lost operations, damaged equipment, and safety risks.

Right materials. Right application. Every time.
That’s how you protect people, equipment, and uptime.

Powered with Purpose.
