Grateful for the opportunity to join fellow board members, staff, and advocates in welcoming Dr. Joanne Pike, President and CEO of the Alzheimer’s Association, to our Georgia Chapter office for the Southeast Territory Town Hall Meeting. 💜

Hearing Dr. Pike reflect on the past decade and share the Association’s vision for the next was a powerful reminder of why this work matters. Every advance in research, care, and support represents hope for individuals and families facing Alzheimer’s and other dementias.

What stayed with me most was the importance of making that progress accessible to every community. Through my work with seniors and families, I see how much compassionate guidance, reliable resources, and connection can mean when navigating this disease.

As Vice Chair of the Georgia Chapter Board, I’m especially proud that our Board recently received the Gold Standard Award, recognizing board excellence and mission impact. Please take a moment to read the heartfelt thank-you from our Executive Director to this dedicated group of community leaders. “The Power of Us. The Power of Now.” reflects the commitment we share and the volunteers, partners, and supporters who make this work possible. Thankful to have been part of the Brain Health & Dementia Symposium last week. I always enjoy sharing my knowledge of senior housing and care, helping individuals and families understand their options and prepare for the next chapter with confidence.

We enjoyed attending the National Placement and Referral Alliance (NPRA) meeting at Somerby Sandy Springs and hearing from Georgia Senior Living Association (GSLA) as well as others regarding the implementation of SB439. It was great to see industry folks coming together for such an important discussion.

Honored to stand alongside fellow advocates as Governor Brian P. Kemp officially proclaimed Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month in Georgia.

As both an Alzheimer’s Association Board member and someone who works with families navigating senior housing and care every day, I see firsthand the profound impact this disease has on individuals, caregivers, and our communities. Moments like these remind me why advocacy matters.

Thank you to Governor Kemp for recognizing the importance of this cause, and to the Alzheimer’s Association, fellow advocates, legislators, and partners who continue fighting for a future without Alzheimer’s.

Together, we can raise awareness, reduce stigma, support caregivers, and move closer to a world without Alzheimer’s.
