☀️ HEAT ALERT FOR OUR COMMUNITY ☀️

Extreme heat continues across our area, with temperatures expected to reach 109–110°F over the next several days.

Fisher County Hospital District reminds everyone to take precautions during this period of dangerous heat. Stay hydrated, limit outdoor activity during the hottest part of the day, take frequent breaks if working outdoors, and check on elderly family members, neighbors, children, and others who may be especially vulnerable to heat-related illness.

Know the signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Heat stroke is a medical emergency- call 911 immediately if someone develops confusion, loss of consciousness, seizures, or other signs of severe heat illness.

Please take care of yourself and look out for one another. In a rural community, checking on a neighbor can make a difference.

Stay cool. Stay hydrated. Stay safe.

We’re looking for volunteers of all ages to come out and lend a hand as we work together to clean up debris, trash, and beautify our community.

Today we recognize the men and women who answer the call—not because it’s their job, but because their community needs them. One day is not nearly enough to recognize each of our firefighters!

Volunteer firefighters leave family dinners, birthdays, warm beds, holidays, and everyday life behind when the tones drop. They give their time, courage, heart, and dedication to protect their neighbors, often asking for nothing in return.

To every volunteer firefighter who has climbed on a truck not knowing what waited at the other end of that call: THANK YOU. 🚒🔥
