We're happy to be able to support this great cause again by Happened By Chance Horses.
UPDATE: While we are not requiring a facial covering to attend the clinic, we are recommending keeping social distance and I will have some masks at the check in point if you want one. I want everyone to be comfortable while attending the clinic and we want you all to come.
Here is my exciting news! I am super, super excited for this opportunity for our horses and for all of you too.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Bekah Tate with Bekah Tate Horsemanship for her visit out to the rescue yesterday. It was a refreshing visit and in just the short time she was here visiting, it was reinforced to me that our horses have so much potential and I feel 100% certain with Bekah’s direction we will be able to reach each horses true potential. I am going to admit, I was a little star struck today in meeting Bekah but found her to be absolutely wonderful, kind and just a really cool person with all horse’s best interest at the forefront of what she does.
Let’s take a group of horses:
The horse that is not able to be ridden due to previous injury: It has value.
The horse with anxiety: It has value.
The horse so abused by humans, it has to learn to trust again: It has value.
The horse with behavioral issues: Doesn’t want to be dewormed, vaccinated or cooperate with the farrier. It has value.
You take the non-riding horse and you teach him tricks. Can he learn to paint? Can he learn to smile? Can he learn to knicker on cue? What can you do with a horse who is set up with protective contact due to an injury? (the horse on stall rest) You can keep his mind busy. 🙂 and have fun doing it.
You take the horse with anxiety, you turn him into a confident horse, establish a two way communication with yourself and the horse with positive reinforcement. You learn a conflict free way for the horse to have free choice and do what you want him to.
All of this can be learned and so much more through the no charge clinics Bekah has offered to the rescue and to each of you. It’s for you too. If you have a horse that fits any of the above and you want to be able to learn how to better communicate with your horse, to have a better relationship with your horse, to learn a little insight into the training methods of Bekah, then you absolutely have to come to the clinics.
As mentioned, the clinic is no charge, is open to the public, you just need to bring your lawn chairs, a bottle of water and watch Bekah work with the horses. At the same time, you will see many of our rescue horses as they are the students for Bekah’s class.
Some processes to be learned are clicker training, 1st impression sessions, threshold target thermometer techniques, advance and retreat techniques, and teach a horse to smile. (nope, not kidding) You can have a confident horse w/o the traditional desensitization practices that we are all too familiar with. Learn to identify your horse’s threshold and so much more.
We only ask that if you are happy with what you learn and what you see, that you might leave a donation for the horses in our care and to thank Bekah for her time and giving to our horses. Who knows, you may just find the horse you have been looking for here while you are out. We would love to be able to continue to have Bekah out, to have you out to continue to learn as she teaches.
We have 3 clinics set up currently.
June 20, 21, and 22 from 9 am – lunchtime
June 27, 28 and 29 from 9 am – lunchtime
July 11, 12, 13 from 9 am – lunchtime
These are all Saturday’s, Sunday’s and Monday’s. You are free to come and go as you wish to all clinics, attending each day, each session will be the best way to see the transformation these horses will make. How cool it will be to keep track of the horse started vs the horse finished?
We want all of our horses here to end up in a forever home. With your help and your support, we can reach that goal.
The horses we have chosen for the clinics are:
Spirit – Not rideable
Isaac – Anxiety with earning trust issues
Princess – Behavioral
Eden – Abused and scared.
We anticipate the clinics to run each day in this order.
9am – introduction and meet/greet the instructor Bekah
9:30 – Spirit
10:00 – Isaac
10:30 – Princess
11:00 – Eden
11:30 - Question and answer period with Bekah.
We want ALL of the horses that pass through our doors to leave our doors as productive horse members of society. We want you to be able to communicate with your horse as you have never been able to before.
Would you like to help Spirit, Isaac, Princess or Eden? Then please come see us, be inspired by what you learn. If you can’t make it to a session, but would like to help us continue our training and methods directed by Bekah, you can make a donation to the rescue. You can help transform our horses, making them better candidates for adoption.
We hope to see many, many of you out for the clinics. It will be a great time for all.
If you are not able to attend the clinic, but would like to help the horses in their path to being better horses, you may donate to support the clinic.
We are thankful to Robert R2+G2 Productions LLC for coming to film the Saturday and Sunday clinics for us!!
