The last week prior to the Montana Angus Tour, we did have some awesome help finishing up the north wall of tin on the new barn...BIG thanks to all for helping get er' done! We were serenaded by a fantastic sunset that evening as well....reward of the day!

Busy day after feeding cattle ,,, we headed out to burn some slash piles the loggers have piled. Almost done with this cleaning of burnt timbers on our south side. The train is loading at the mine as we start another slash pile on the hilltop overlooking the mine area. Always good to have some pleasant weather to help our efforts and the wind did join in to help stoke the fires today.

Terry has been getting things taken care of still from our fire two years ago.....we are finally seeing some end in sight as our loggers are finalizing the work on our south side. Burning slash piles has begun and we will be so glad when all is done.

"Bill", Wyatt William Frost passed yesterday afternoon. We have appreciation for the Hospice people that assisted us through this last journey for him as well as those who left their families on Easter day to deal with final tasks.
Family is so important and Alice is blessed to have so many around to be here for her as well.

The ranch has lost one of our hardest workers. His love of seeing the cattle goes on forever ...his drive to get control of the trees and forest fires will forever be remembered.

Everyday has been a challenge since our fire in September...the Bobcat Fire. We are slowly getting some corral and alleyways setup so we can function, no barn as yet or new tack room. The winter has been giving us a challenge with getting the ground leveled to set corral and such but temporary structures are ready to go....time for preg checking! Gotta do what one has gotta do to move forward...have our one set of heifers to move home from a great feedlot that has helped out with care since the fire, Luke Lackman, has been a life saver for helping with that worry about pasture and all since no fences were standing. Our perimeter fences are up, one cross fence is finished and it looks pretty good. Time to bring them home for preg checking as well.
Hope all who are calving and continuing on with this life of ranching are surviving the temps that were handed out ....we are thinking of you all.

Thanksgiving is over and we all go on with the next ranch work days! Cattle getting sorted to ready for breeding pastures...more calves to offer in the future!
