5 years:
That's how long I've been a stay at home dad, working from home. I can not express in words how rewarding it has been. I used to prioritize work over family as if it was the only way. I would be the first to take on more tasks, give up my nights and weekends, all in the idea of chaising money.
I've made people millions, built numerous companies for others while working for them for peanuts. I've been used, taken advantage of, and manipulated more times than I even care to track anymore. The ammount of money that is owed to me by past employers, and clients would make me debt free, with new cars, a pool, and an investment property or two all paid off.
Now, don't get me wrong. It's not easy just because I'm working from home. I have clients that do the same thing. I have clients that lie and don't pay. I have clients that will call or want to go to lunch to "catch-up" or "chat" and within a few minutes their asking questions about their business and what I think they should do. Always wanting help but never wanting to pay. Pretty common, and the worst part it I know it's happening and allow it. Because it's not worth me getting upset anymore. I just know the friendship isn't genuine, it's based on what I can do for them.
I still wouldn't trade it for the world though, my only regret was not making the change sooner. Being able to take my kids to and from school everyday, attend every practice, every event, every moment, is priceless.
The support I receive every single day from the women I love is completely unmatched and more than I deserve. Thank you Nicole, for always being in my corner, no matter what.
So, thank you to those who are my people. Thank you to those who are truly in my corner. Thank you to those that watch me, hoping I'll fail. You're all playing a part to push me forward. You see, as Jocelynne recently told me, "I'm the only one who can write the story of my character. Nobody else has that control over me. Everything else is just a sidestory" At 15, my daughter continues to amaze me with her ability to see from so many perspectives.
Love you all, and thanks for being around and if you are reading this, thank you.
