‼️ Extreme Heat Warning & Fire Danger🚒
An Extreme Heat Warning has been issued for Rockwall and Dallas counties. It is in effect until 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18, with temperatures reaching up to 108°F. Extreme heat, low humidity and dry conditions also increase the risk of grass and ground fires.
Stay hydrated, limit time outdoors, take breaks in the shade or A/C, and never leave children or pets in a vehicle.
Help prevent fires by avoiding activities that create sparks or flames in dry vegetation, properly extinguishing ci******es and using caution with outdoor equipment.
While this extreme heat warning ends Tuesday evening, extreme temperatures are expected to persist throughout the week. Please be proactive, plan ahead and continue taking precautions to protect yourself, your family and our community.
Know signs of heat exhaustion: dizziness, thirst, heavy sweating, nausea, and weakness.
Signs of a heat stroke: confusion, dizziness and unconsciousness.
Heat exhaustion can lead to a heat stroke. If you are experiencing heat exhaustion:
•Moving to a cooler area
•Loosen clothing
•Sip cool water
•Seek medical help if symptoms do not improve.
