‼️ Extreme Heat Warning & Fire Danger🚒

An Extreme Heat Warning has been issued for Rockwall and Dallas counties. It is in effect until 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18, with temperatures reaching up to 108°F. Extreme heat, low humidity and dry conditions also increase the risk of grass and ground fires.

Stay hydrated, limit time outdoors, take breaks in the shade or A/C, and never leave children or pets in a vehicle.

Help prevent fires by avoiding activities that create sparks or flames in dry vegetation, properly extinguishing ci******es and using caution with outdoor equipment.

While this extreme heat warning ends Tuesday evening, extreme temperatures are expected to persist throughout the week. Please be proactive, plan ahead and continue taking precautions to protect yourself, your family and our community.

Know signs of heat exhaustion: dizziness, thirst, heavy sweating, nausea, and weakness.

Signs of a heat stroke: confusion, dizziness and unconsciousness.

Heat exhaustion can lead to a heat stroke. If you are experiencing heat exhaustion:
•Moving to a cooler area
•Loosen clothing
•Sip cool water
•Seek medical help if symptoms do not improve.

If you or a loved one is experiencing signs of a heat stroke, call 911 immediately.

Rowlett Fire responded to a structure fire on Davis Street this afternoon.

The home, which was undergoing renovations, sustained heavy fire and smoke damage in the garage and attic.

Thank you to the firefighters who responded quickly to bring the fire under control and protect the surrounding area.

Please avoid the Davis Street area while crews remain on scene.

Rowlett Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 1401 Churchill Way at 3:47 p.m. today. Crews arrived to find heavy smoke and fire in the garage of a residential home.

Occupants evacuated before firefighters arrived and crews quickly attacked the fire, confining it to the garage area.

Nine units and 23 personnel responded. No injuries were reported to occupants or firefighters.

The Rowlett Fire Marshal’s Office is on scene. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

There's something powerful about watching the people who protect our community line up side by side with the young people who represent its future. 💙

Yesterday at the RHS Field House, Rowlett Police & Fire joined Rowlett High School varsity football players for year two of their fitness challenge. 2-ma teams consisting of first responders and student athletes paired up and pushed through five events: 100 push-ups, 40 pull-ups, a weighted wall sit, a 25-lb plate hold, and a 185-lb bench press finale for the top 5 teams.

When the competition ended, the conversations didn't. Our officers and firefighters stayed to cheer on the players and offer encouragement heading into football season — a reminder that these relationships go far beyond a single event.

Thank you to Coach Alford and his athletes for their energy and heart. Thank you to Chick-fill-A, Raising Cane's, Chipotle, Walmart and little Ceasar's West Side for donated gift cards for the participating footballers.
And Thank you Main Street Massage and Main Street Chiropractic for coming out and offering free services to police & fire.🙏

🔥 Rowlett Fire Department proudly hosted the 2026 DFW Fire Games for the FOURTH year in a row!

Explorer teams from across Texas came out to compete and show off their hard work and dedication. It was an honor to host such an incredible event and witness these young adults shine.

The Rowlett Fire Department is proud to maintain a longstanding commitment to the National Fallen Firefighter Foundation — honoring the families of our fallen Brothers and Sisters.

Since 2016, Captain Brent Sandlin has represented our department as a Family Es**rt, walking alongside families during one of the most meaningful weekends of the year.

"I was honored to serve as a Family Es**rt for the family of Firefighter Corby McKenzie at this year's National Fallen Firefighter Memorial. Firefighter McKenzie lost his courageous battle with cancer in March of 2024 — later determined to be occupational cancer and deemed a Line of Duty Death. The National Fallen Firefighter Memorial helps families cope with the loss of their loved one and gives them comfort knowing their Hero will never be forgotten."

As we approach Memorial Day, we invite our community to join us in honoring all who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
