When Kurt Helm served in the United States Marine Corps from 1964-1968, he became interested in understanding how and why people behave as they do in different circumstances. That interest led him to study psychology and, eventually, complete a doctorate in psychology with a specialization in organizational behavior. After working with a national management consulting firm headquartered in Dallas,
TX, while he completed his doctorate, Kurt founded Helm and Associates, Inc., to provide selection and development services for senior executives, managers, and supervisors. His deeply-held conviction that personality-based assessment should include constructive feedback for new employees has driven the development by Helm and Associates of formal developmental feedback products that are included with every completed assessment that is provided to our clients. The company recognized in the early 1980s that there was, and continues to be, a need on the part of businesses for targeted, job-relevant employment tests that are based on sound psychometric principles and that are thoroughly validated. We have developed, validated, and market and support employment tests that include customized training and development information for targeted job-relevant skills, attitudes, or aptitudes.
