LEAVING YO MAMA'S HOUSE

Just for

I have to set this up ...

Our son, AGGIE here, off campus for this semester, gets up late and doesn't do his chores for the a.m. and is off to work - he's cutting it close ...

Take 1. Goes outside and I call him, "is the trash ..." He comes in. Takes trash out. Goes outside to leave.

Take 2. Mom calls, but prior to that, I hear her speaking to herself and I know this is going to be GOOD, "if you don't handle your business, you will be embarrassed ..." "You left my sink dirty and soap is on the sponge ..." He comes in, kinda deflated and quickly does it. Goes outside to leave.

Something else transpires - I asked, "Did you hug your Mama goodbye?" She says, "Nooo, he's rushing!" I quip, "You better hug yo mama, you never know ..." He reluctantly hugs ...

Then this occurs ... 🤣🤣🤣 (I am in my office during this entire episode screaming my requests and desires.)

How many of us can relate to this while growing up? Remember how we would want to get out of earshot so we had the excuse, "I didn't hear you!"

What are you running from? 🤣🤣🤣

I was privileged to emcee the first half of the event.

Owning Your Story ...

As I thought about the idea of getting in front of your "own" story, it triggered the word "vulnerability" in the sense of opening up about what your experiences have been and allowing the hearer to decide or draw conclusions about you.

Your life is a collection of stories segmented into multiple parts. Imagine theatre. You own the script, it is from your point of view - you are the Playwright with the right to write and say what you wish.

Your drama for each one of those stories has a thought, theme or idea that either surrounds a tragedy, comedy, melodrama or tragicomedy.

You have to own your story and expose the important details you wish to share. Your climaxes, crises and resolutions are shared by many who have shrouded and placed their stories in the deep recesses of obscurity.

For a few days, I have been in the Dominican Republic with GiG Foundation board member Elfric Porte gathering data on the needs of the children in the towns of Higuey and La Romana.

Most children cannot be in school because of the lack of birth certificate and vaccinations. At birth, the parents do not bring ID cards to register their children properly. Parents do not have IDs either. As the children grow older, it becomes a stumbling block to enroll.

Moreover, in public schools, pupils either go for 4 hours in the morning or 4 hours in the evening. Kids have less school time due to the lack of government assistance for providing lunch and parents living off $2 a day.

What's next? Information gathered (via interviews, video and observation) will be processed with the plan to develop systems and infrastructure that will alleviate this education issue.

About video: I got on the floor to be taught Spanish by a student who is part of the learning center in La Romana. This Learning Center has an unemployed teacher, Joseline, who gives her services three days a week for 6 hours a day. Pastor Miguel Garcia assists in meager ways also.

Mental Mindset

You’ve followed the game plan of success, you have all the self help books and get rich programs in the world … you have purchased the “Keys to …” every single door you wish to unlock and you are standing at the exit of doing every component to the letter, the details.

Your expectation at this point is a new door to the floodgates of success. What the “Keys to” programs didn’t tell you was the much needed ingredient, the most important component, the catalyst to your reaction - your mentality. These keys sold do unlock some or most of the ingredients to success but there should always be a disclaimer printed in bold prints - THIS will only work if you have a mentality that will overcome rejection, dejection and self sabotage.

Developing this mental mindset can only be done in the arena of life, in the midst of the game. Once you know your purpose, you can’t quit it.

Within your network, who are 5 people you want others to know about and are open to building their network? These 5 operate with awesome core values and will be a value add to any team.

To make this valuable, provide a reason for each of your 5 and make them irresistible.

You are not limited to 5. If you think of more than 5, add them.

Example:
1. Ed Dudley - great connector, leads with a servant's heart.
2. Pastor Jonathan Morgan, Cornerstone Family Church, Raleigh, NC - hates religion and loves the Word of God, a heart for missions.
3. Gary Williams, Sr. - Great basketball coach, selfless, passionate.
4. Shoana Cachelle - authentic as they come, a sister, knows her way around a camera, microphone and a computer.
5. Aldrin Porte - trustworthy, man of his word, will be there and do what he says, loves to serve, can work a camera.

Let's build an organic network.
