Harts Lake Pioneer Lumber Company Harts Lake Pioneer Lumber Company-Living history of Washington written in beautiful wood. From Wilcox Family Farms by Katie Wilcox

Judson and Betty Wilcox founded Wilcox Family Farms in 1909. They brought their two daughters to the farm and a daughter and son were later born in the farmhouse that still stands on the rim of the valley that overlooks Harts Lake. The Forest has always been part of life on the farm. Its shadows dominated the wagon trail to the farm, its timber built most of the farm houses and farm buildings and

its fuel still heats the homes of the Wilcox Family. Because the forest, the lake and the Nisqually river have been so important to five generations of Wilcox family members, they in turn, have sworn to protect the natural world around them. The Wilcox Family Farm, and its forest lands are certified Salmon-Safe. The cropland and many of the flocks are organic and the timber is certified with the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), a non-profit, third party forest practice certifying agency. Katie Wilcox is a 5th generation Wilcox. She and the rest of the Wilcox Family have begun marketing limited quantities of their forest as heirloom-quality timber for use in homes and businesses for people who want to feel good about their homes and to live and work around wood that is part of the pioneer heritage of the great Pacific Northwest.

This favorite piece of mine has been sitting in my shop for a year because I was torn on selling it. However, I think it would look a lot better in someone's living room!

Finished with polyurethane, this 6' table features two slices of Wilcox Farms Douglas Fir, along with a slice of Big Leaf Maple down the center. The hairpin legs gives the table a more delicate appearance than most of my hulking counters. $1,200 plus tax.

Well folks, we did it again! Our friend Jerry had oak posts sitting in his barn and wanted us to make an old fashioned pew out of them. Dang, that wood was heavy and a challenge to cut! But I think the end product turned out perfect!

These Madrona logs completed their journey and are now back home overlooking Budd Inlet. There was a lot of beauty underneath that unique peeling bark.
This immense table was made from a dead Madrona tree that grew for a century overhanging Budd Bay, near Olympia, WA. This is the product of a single large log.
The tabletop is made of the three center flitches and the benches are made of the outside slabs. We used maple from the farm for the undercarrieage of the table and benches and for the butterflies that hold the splits together. Epoxy fills the large cracks. Of course, the Madrona twisted during drying and perhaps 15% of the log became sawdust as Katie flattened the flitches with a router. Odie's oil and Odie's butter finished the job. Estimated weight of this table and bench set is 700 lbs. It was carried down 2 flights of steep, twisting and slick old concrete steps by Katie, Dad and Michael in 6 pieces and re-assembled on-site.

Andrew K Barkis ordered this set of shelves for his office. Katie Wilcox did a great job on it, I think. She's finishing up a big project and ready for new orders. www.hartslakepioneerlumber.com
