My absolute favorite survey to run on e-commerce stores asking customers on the order confirmation page:
"What hesitation nearly stopped you from buying today?"
Why is it so good:
1. It occurs on the order confirmation page, so it doesn't run the risk of turning away any sales
2. Because you are dealing with actual customers, you don't have the non-buyers that only say "price" is the concern. (which it's not, because that just means the value didn't exceed the cost)
3. You get the best answers to why those that abandon didn't persevere
4. You will always find broken s**t on your site that can be fixed for big $$$ (thanks to Craig Sullivan) for this tip.
