Classic architecture doesn't have to stay frozen in time. 🏡

This 1930s Bloomfield Hills home got a major renovation — new addition with open kitchen and great room, covered loggia, a three-sided dining nook flooded with natural light, and a refreshed exterior with white-washed brick and an arched entry. Timeless, updated.

Last spring, Ava Sherman spent a week with our team through a job shadow with our own Dawn Peczko. This fall, she's on the Michigan State University Interior Design Student Organization board. She reached out to ask if KKA would donate a raffle item for their annual Meet & Greet.

The answer was easy.

Putting that basket together? We handed it off to Gabrielle Ibrahim, who joined KKA as an intern through MSU, graduated in May 2026, and is now a full-time member of our Interior Design Department.

There's something we love about this picture: a former MSU Interior Design student, now on our team, building a gift basket for current MSU Interior Design students. That's not a coincidence, it's a pipeline we're proud of.

KKA has deep roots at Michigan State. We've welcomed MSU students through internships, job shadows, and everything in between, and more than a few of them have gone on to become the people who run the show around here.

To Ava and everyone on the IDSO board, good luck with the Meet & Greet. We're rooting for you. And to the students who walk through those doors this fall: we hope to meet you someday.

We designed InvestWise’s new 9,300 square foot headquarters at the corner of Quarton Road & Woodward Avenue in Birmingham, Michigan. The three-story building features a two-story atrium, several first-floor meeting rooms, second floor private offices and open workstations, and a third floor all glass ‘Zen’ conservatory with an open-air terrace providing restorative spaces for staff and occasional client gatherings.

The building features a timeless palette of brick & metal with detailed patterning and generous glazing that balances openness with privacy. A prominent corner tower and glazed entry create a strong arrival experience and establish a distinctive presence at the northern end of downtown Birmingham. The design and material palette reflect InvestWise’s values of stability, permanence, and forward-thinking innovation, while pedestrian scaled landscaping creates an inviting relationship with the surrounding streetscape.

Lake Louise Cabin | Construction Progress

Our Lake Louise cabin in Charlevoix County is taking shape—and the timber framing is bringing the vision to life.

Designed as a modern Northern Michigan cottage, this 4,000 SF home pairs clean, contemporary lines with warm timber, stone and natural materials to create a retreat that feels both timeless and comfortably rooted in its setting.

One of the most rewarding moments in construction is seeing the architecture begin to frame the experience. Here, the exposed timber structure defines the main living space while expansive glass captures beautiful views across Lake Louise.

Charming, peaceful and intentionally connected to the landscape, this is a home designed around the simple pleasures of life at the lake.

More to come as construction continues.

Reclaimed wood. Sleek metal. Stone. Views.
This exterior doesn't just sit in the landscape, it belongs to it.

Krieger Klatt Architects is hiring an Architectural Residential Designer / Technician to join our studio in Royal Oak, Michigan.

We work on custom homes where design and technical ex*****on go hand in hand. The person we're looking for understands that great residential architecture lives in the details — in a well-coordinated drawing set, a thoughtful wall section, a plan that actually builds the way it looks on paper.

This isn't a pure drafting role, and it isn't a pure design role. It's both.

What we're looking for:
→ 2–5 years of architectural experience
→ Revit and AutoCAD proficiency required
→ Custom residential background strongly preferred
→ Full-time, Monday–Friday, Royal Oak studio

What you'll get: competitive pay, health benefits, retirement plan with employer contribution, half-day Fridays, and a team that genuinely invests in your growth.

If you care about craft, take pride in your work, and want to be part of something you can point to and say I helped build that — we'd love to see your portfolio.

📩 Send your resume, work samples, and preferred pay range to [email protected] with "Architectural Residential Designer" in the subject line.
