In addition, Jeff has a Bachelor of Science in Electronic Engineering and spent over 15 years in the electronic and electric power utility industries prior to starting Look Thermography Corp. Jeff specializes in electric utility transmission and distribution systems with a particular focus on substation equipment inspections, power transformer inspections, electrical switchgear inspections, and transmission & distribution line inspections. In addition, Jeff has been a pioneer in the use of infrared optical gas imaging (OGI) for the detection of SF6 and other harmful gas leaks.

A lesson in Emissivity. A good absorber of infrared energy is also good at emitting infrared energy.
This building in Miami has been tagged. Notice how the black paint used by the artist is emitting much more of the IR energy than the paint used for the letters.
Typically the color of paint doesn’t much matter in the IR spectrum but in this case it appears to matter. Maybe different types of paint were used here.
It should be noted that this building faces East and was getting 100% of the morning sun.
