Friday was the season opener at Legion Speedway and a lot of emotions were going on. We started with a different chassis we picked up in PA last year and we built it over the winter months. We had no idea how it would handle. We were hoping to be close with our setup and try to make Dirtworm Dan proud along with all our great sponsors. The track started out on the wet side but with some time the track turned out pretty awesome. Huge shout out to all the hard work Ron Giroux and his helpers for making it a great track. We went out for the heat and tried to get the feel for the car and we were close but still needed some changes to be faster. We went back to the pits and made some changes and hoped for the best. We started on the pole and was able to hold on to the lead to achieve our first ever victory with the wingless division. I really hope that this achievement put a smile on our friend Dans face as he looks down over the Legion track the he loved so much. I have never been to victory lane and with the emotions of winning for the first time, knowing my friend was not hear to celebrate with us, was hard. I had no speech planned as I did not think it was even in our grasp having a different car and being the first race of the year. It was hard to say but, “This one was for Dan”. To top all of this off my Mom and Dad surprised me by showing up as well traveling 2 and a half hours to watch me race for 10 minutes. I could not have asked for a better night. I would like to thank my wife and son for all their patience with me and the help with the car, Mom and Dad for your love and support, Rick and Paula for coming to watch each week. Thank you to all my sponsors for all the help you have given to support us and our love for racing.
