Contracting opportunities start with being prepared, and that’s exactly what our DGS Certification & SMUD SEED workshops focus on!

Business owners spent the morning learning about small business certification, navigating the SEED vendor system, and gaining practical insight into how to become more competitive for future contracting opportunities.

As always, thank you to our partners at California Department of General Services and Sacramento Municipal Utility District for continuing to support and invest in our small business community. 🎉

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR 2026 YES TO STARTUPS 1ST PLACE WINNER!

Big news - Hop Riot won the YES to Startups Pitch Contest for our proposed gourmet coffee expansion! This project is about using the space we already have to create something Wheatland has been asking for: a welcoming daytime place for coffee, conversation, remote, work, and community. We are grateful to Yuba County, the judges, business coaches and everyone who has supported Hop Riot as we keep building something special here in wheatland. More to come - coffee is officially one step closer!

Last night, ten Yes to Startups finalists pitched their businesses to a panel of judges after weeks of preparation, mentorship, and hard work.

Let’s give a round of applause to our 2026 winners:

Local food entrepreneurs showed up ready to learn! ✍🏽

In partnership with Sacramento County, our How to Start a Food-Based Business workshop walked participants through the food business permitting process and explored different paths to getting started.

We can’t wait to watch these ideas grow into Sacramento’s next favorite food spots!

Meet the Yes to Startups finalists👏

What started as business ideas and early concepts has grown into real momentum. Over the past several weeks, these entrepreneurs have committed time, energy, and courage to building something of their own.

Now, they’re stepping onto the stage for the final pitch where they’ll compete for cash prizes!

Community support makes a huge difference. Come cheer them on!
