Did you know our brains have not one, but two thinking systems? It's true! In the book "Thinking, Fast and Slow" by Kahneman, we meet System 1 and System 2. I imagined them the world of Dr. Seuss... so I gave them a makeover! 😉🪄

Think 1 is like a speedy rocket 🚀. It works automatically and relies on instinct, making snap judgments. It's our brain's reflex mode.

On the other hand, Think 2 is the thoughtful bookworm 📚. It's deliberate, logical, and engages in complex reasoning and decision-making. It's the conscious part of our thinking.

In our daily lives, both Think 1 and Think 2 are essential players. Think 2 is who we envision when we think about ourselves, our conscious beliefs and decisions. But Think 1 is responsible for many of our daily reactions.

Here's the secret: Neither think is better than the other. They both have their roles to play. Emotional intelligence brings our two thinkers together in harmony.

When you make a mistake, do you hide?  ignore it? Hope it will go away or that no one will notice? Many of avoid acknowledging our mistakes and when we do we up to fall into a spiral of shame. But what if instead of seeing mistakes, we saw it as a surprise? an unexpected opportunity?

Mistakes are a part of learning and a part of being human. Here’s to embracing the surprises in life and work!
