Today, we had the privilege of joining Natomas High School’s Career Fair. Sharing resume and interview tips with the students was the highlight of the day.

Happy Sunday!!!!

It’s a day of rest and time to rejuvenate and prepare for the week ahead.

But wait, before you make a long list of to-dos take a look at these 3 tips you can do today to prepare your week:

1. Rest & Relax
I know, I know… you didn’t think that would be on the list but it is. It’s so important to rest and be present. Enjoy your weekend…the whole two days. Don’t let Monday’s woes creep into today.

2. After you’ve rested and enjoyed your Sunday, review your calendar from last week, this week and next week.
Make note of anything missed and necessary to complete from last week. Look at next week. Make note of any projects coming that you need to work on this week.

3. Pull out your (Cubicle Connections) planner😉 and plan your week allowing time for last week’s backlog, this week’s workload and prep for next week.

Haven’t grabbed your very own Cubicle Connections planner? No need to worry, you can order your copy on the website www.cubicleconnections.com or use the link in my bio.

In the meantime, any calendar will do. 😉

Do this today and you will feel relaxed and prepared for this week.

A role transition, whether it's a promotion, a move to a new organization, or a fresh challenge in an existing job, can be a huge boost to one's career. But in today's hyper-collaborative and dynamic workplaces, successful moves aren't as easy as they o...

Do you understand the purpose of your leader’s role and how it affects your organization?

Is it clear why certain things are considered highly important while others are optional?

If not, and even if so let me share a few tips that I have found helpful.

As an Admin, it is important to understand your leader’s role and responsibilities. You must know what keeps them up at night, what issues need more attention today than they did yesterday.

Now some may say you can learn this from reviewing their calendar and I would agree with you….to an extent.

However, there are a few other ways that I’d like to offer for consideration:
- Be the leader for the day: Shadow your leader for the day. If they allow you, join every call they are on. Go to every meeting they attend and get a closer view of what a normal day looks like from their perspective.
- If you can’t attend the meeting due to confidentiality, take on a leader’s mindset when taking minutes. Take notice your leader’s action items. Ask for clarification and offer assistance to complete them.

These two steps will allow you to get into the mind of your leader and better understand their role, responsibilities and rationale behind the decisions they make.

Remember, the role of an admin is to be the Strategic Partner to your leader. The only way to do this is to get more involved in the work and understand them better.

Don’t be afraid to insert yourself in certain conversations or on certain projects, as allowed by your leader.

The more you know, the higher value of support you can provide leading to that strategic partnership that we all desire.

I hope this helps.

Happy Wednesday!!

It’s Friday!!!

We made it through the workweek and it’s time to relax. But before you do, check out these tips to prepare for a successful week ahead:

1. Review your calendars. Remove all cancelled meetings and accept/decline all new requests.
2. Assess your upcoming week. Will it be a heavy or light week. Adjust your schedule accordingly.
3. Review your to-do lists and projects tracker. Are you on track? Do you need to prepare for a deadline? Do you need to add more tasks to catch up?
4. Make adjustments to fit the needs you identified.
5. Create your goals for next week and write them down.

Do these few things today so you can walk in on Monday with a vision and a plan.

Happy Friday!!

How do you organize your day-to-day tasks? Are you using a To-Do List? I sure hope so.

Here’s why…. a To-Do List allows you to realistically evaluate what needs to be done versus what can be done in a day. They can be very helpful when used correctly.

Take a look at these tips on how to effectively use your To-Do List.

1. Align your list with your calendar.

2. Use the method that works best for you. Some use a notebook to write their lists and others use electronic devices. Either way, make it work for you.

3. Write all tasks down and check them off when they are complete.

4. Do the hardest task first.

5. If the task is not completed by the end of the day, move it to the next day. After three reschedules, reevaluate the task and it’s priority.

BONUS TIP: Create a “Nice To Have” list. This is a list that holds all less urgent but “nice to have”tasks, like starting a garden. Using this list relieves the subconscious pressure that it needs to get done. You are now free to do it whenever you have time.

Happy Friday!!!
