I started ShutterBee Photography while I was in graduate school, working on a PhD in Human Genetics. Radically different realms, I know! I found there was something uniquely rewarding and beautiful in being able to use my love of photography to capture important moments in people’s lives–their engagements, their weddings, their children, their growing families, their graduations. I got my first di

gital camera when I was about 10 years old. It was a bulky giant that took floppy disks. Starting out photographing nature and macros, I quickly found that I loved capturing human moments. My style of photography is natural, candid, and vibrant. I love capturing natural moments and important details. I like to get to know my clients and work with them to create something custom for them, rather than having a standard package. I also like being able to get images back to clients quickly, so they can immediately enjoy the pictures and share that enjoyment with their friends and family. For that reason, I have a 10 day guaranteed turn-around on all digital albums (including weddings!). In early 2016, I moved back to California after living in Pennsylvania for several years and brought my photography business cross-country with me. I am now looking to meet new people and build a client base here in Northern California. When I am not in photographer mode, I work in Sacramento doing autism research and enjoy spending time with dog, Beau, and my family.

Tonight I had the great joy of capturing the Fly Brave Foundation's Autism Fashion Show/Silent Auction Fundraiser. Fly Brave seeks to provide employment training and assist adults with autism and other developmental disabilities in finding jobs and fulfillment. They pair this important work with being the embodiment of positivity and kindess for all ages, for young people to be embraced and loved for who they are. Tonight's show was the most joyful and positive event I have ever photographed, with each model getting to show off what makes them unique and special. Congratulations to Fly Brave for such a spectacular event and I look forward to seeing your organization continue to grow and share the message of !
