We are excited to announce that Mintier Harnish will be working with the City of Cathedral City, to prepare an update to the city's Zoning Code and Subdivision Ordinance. We look forward to working with city staff, community members, and the development community to create a modern and streamlined Zoning Code that paves the way for new development and implements the vision and policies of the 2040 General Plan.

📢PROJECT UPDATE📢

✅ City of Lompoc's 2024-2031 Housing Element Update Certified by the State of California! 🎉

On January 7, 2025, the California Department of Housing & Community Development certified the City's 2024-2029 Housing Element Update. The Update was completed as part of the City's ongoing Technical General Plan Update (led by Mintier Harnish), which includes updates to the Safety and Circulation Elements and a new Environmental Justice Element. The certified Housing Element incorporates a detailed action plan to encourage residential development, an expansive sites inventory including two rezone sites, and targeted fair housing programs. We are excited to announce that Mintier Harnish will be working with the City of Vacaville to prepare the Markham Callen Neighborhood Plan. We look forward to working with city staff and community members to create a dynamic plan that reflects the unique character of the Markham Callen neighborhood and identifies goals to improve quality of life for its residents and businesses.

Last week a few of our staff members had the opportunity to attend the Land Use Planning for Wildfires in California training hosted by the Community Wildfire Planning Center and CAL FIRE - Office of the State Fire Marshal.

We had great discussions with other land use planners, fire chiefs, and fire mitigation specialists about wildfire vulnerabilities and how we can better plan our built environments to minimize the negative impacts of wildfires in our communities.

Thank you to CAL FIRE and the Community Wildfire Center for providing these training opportunities and all they do to help keep our communities safe!

From September 15-18, 2019, APA California and the Central Coast Section hosted the statewide conference, which focused on the theme A Resilient Future. The conference aimed to tackle pressing local and statewide issues, including housing, energy, climate change, transportation, diversity, and disaster recovery. We are pleased to announce two additions to the MH team!

Michael Gibbons was our summer intern in 2016, and has officially joined the team as a planner. Over the past three years, Michael earned his Bachelor’s Degree in City and Regional Planning from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, worked as a planner with the City of Napa, and was a law enforcement officer in Napa.

We are also welcoming our intern, Ben Salter, as he takes a break from academics to try consulting. Ben is on track to complete a Master's Degree in Urban Planning from San Jose State University this December.

It's great to have you, Michael and Ben!
