PVC = No Bueno

10/20/2026

Did you know PVC is a bad choice for a dryer vent and against current codes? The airflow over the plastic creates a static charge, which attracts lint and leads to a quicker than normal blockage. This can lead with multiple issues including a fire hazard in your machine, higher energy costs, and a duct full of soaked lint as v***rs can't properly escape. Check the videos in the comments... 😬

Don't get yourself in a soupy situation with a clogged dryer vent. Call 989-252-2526 and schedule your cleaning today. Locally owned, veteran operated.

Flexible duct running through a wall or floor is dangerous. Not Tom Cruise Maverick dangerous, but more like can possibly help burn your house down dangerous.

Here's why: Flexible duct is susceptible to lint accumulation, kinking and is easily ripped. If a fire does happen to ignite the thin aluminum or sometimes vinyl material is easily melted spreading the flame wherever they may go. A lot of times they are used as the "easy" solution or to help save space but the consequences can be costly. Don't risk it, there's a solution! At The Dryer Vent Doctor we use 26g heavy duty galvanized steel ductwork that is taped and supported on every seam with the appropriate UL listed metal duct tape in accordance with current IRC guidelines.

How old is your dryer? Has it ever been serviced? When it comes to a fire hazard this is where it starts, then will follow the trail of lint through a dirty duct. If you have weird smells, slow dry times or can see lint buildup in/around the machine it's a good idea to make sure you're safe.

If you have a screen over your vent you're playing with fire. Not only is it against current codes, it creates ongoing maintenance that is dangerous if ignored. Once the screen clogs with lint which happens pretty quick nothing gets out. Lint gets pushed into places it shouldn't be. Water v***r is trapped allowing water to form in your duct and leak out the seams. This can also lead to mold like shown below. Even worse, if your dryer is gas Carbon Monoxide is also trapped and pumped back into areas inside the home.

Protect your home and family, upgrade to the proper metal animal safe vent cover and eliminate screens!

What's the inside of your dryer look like? This was a dryer and vent from earlier this week. If you're experiencing:

- slow dry times
- a really hot dryer
- multiple cycles to get clothing dry
- excessive dust in your laundry room

Any of the above symptoms are likely a clogged or blocked vent. This can lead to a very dangerous situation in the machine as the backed up lint has to go somewhere.

Don't risk a fire and don't pay more than necessary in utility bills due to overuse. Call 989-252-2526 or visit www.dryerdocs.com and take advantage of our April spring cleaning discounts!
