Debbie began as Louis J. Furlo Sr.’s executive secretary, when typewriters were used for proposals and there were only 12 associates. Today, she celebrates 45 years at Morley.
She has worked across multiple departments, including Exhibits & Displays, Meetings & Incentives, and Performance Improvement, where she managed a variety of specialty programs for clients.
She’s even had a hand in benefits selection for Morley's growing associate base. Her unique career path has given her operational knowledge across nearly every part of the business.
Now, as Director of Administration/Corporate Secretary, Debbie is the Swiss Army knife of the company – trusted to step in, solve problems and keep things moving. She champions teamwork and expects excellence from herself and those around her.
Debbie is married with three children and five grandchildren, and she loves spending time with them – whether it’s playing board games or shooting hoops with her 6-year-old grandson. She also enjoys working in the yard, shopping and traveling, and trekking to places like Hawaii, Alaska, Quebec, Florida and Traverse City, Michigan. She reads a lot, with a preference for romance, suspense and thrillers.
She’s stayed at Morley for 45 years because she genuinely enjoys the work and the people. She fondly remembers Morley’s Christmas parties in earlier days, with its live bands and late nights at the Saginaw Club when they’d “shut it down.”
“I've just always enjoyed my job. It was always something new every single day. No program was ever the same. Even if we had the same program six or seven years, 10 years later, something was always different that made it fun and interesting.”
She offers advice for others hoping to enjoy a rich career like hers: Learn the job, be responsible, do whatever it takes and have fun.
“It’s been a ride, and it's an experience I don't think anybody has had at Morley other than me, just because of the different departments that I have been able to work in.
