We're wild about architecture! 🦎🏢Earlier this week our design team attended the ribbon cutting for the new Wild in Nature! building at the Saginaw Children's Zoo. This facility will house a variety of reptiles, arachnids, amphibians and a variety of insects sure to delight the curious. We love working with local organizations to create places that foster a sense of community.

On Fridays we wear RED. 🇺🇸

“RED” stands for “Remember Everyone Deployed.” Over the last month, our RED Fridays have been a simple way to show solidarity and appreciation for the men and women currently serving in our armed forces, as well as their families.

By wearing red, we took small but visible step to recognize their commitment and sacrifice and support our troops until they all come home.

We create spaces that stand the test of time. ⏰ In 1960, our firm designed an addition to the Hoyt Library, a historic 1890 building constructed in a heavy masonry Romanesque style.

Rather than replicate the Richardsonian Romanesque design, the addition used readily available materials to create a complimentary and contemporary space. 🧱We honor the past and design for the future.

Architecture week is a week dedicated to encouraging people to explore architecture and design. 🏣

Over the past few weeks, our team has taken time to step back and ✨experience✨ architecture — exploring our current projects such as the Dow Gardens Welcome Center, volunteering at completed spaces such as the Saginaw County Youth Protection Council Kitchen, and studying the creativity of our peers at places like the Midland Center for the Arts .

Seeing these spaces firsthand reminds us why we do what we do: to passionately create built environments to inspire communities for generations to come. 🤝

Tiles can be a great low-maintenance way to add visual appeal to a space. On , we want to take a second to highlight a project where tile work is displayed. 📚

At Handley Elementary School, this tile pattern welcomes students, faculty and families inside at the main entrance. Its pattern is an abstract of the exterior siding patterns and colors. The grey tiles are intended to draw people's focus to the original Handley sign - highlighting their history at the new school.
