Kankakee Nursery 2,500-acre wholesale grower of exceptional B&B and container trees and evergreens since 1925. Shipping throughout USA and Canada.

Over 95+ years, Kankakee Nursery has grown from 20 acres to over 2500 acres, with hundreds of thousands of plants in production and shipping available throughout the USA and Canada. What started as two high school buddies trying to support themselves through the Great Depression now supports around 100 Kankakee families, many of whom have been with us for multiple decades. Big, however, is not what we’re about. We’ve grown because we’ve had great employees and great customers. We try to treat everyone well and with respect. We believe our relationships with our customers are lasting because we provide them with quality service and plant materials, efficient delivery, understanding of their needs and a commitment to be the best we can be.

🚨Calling all Iowa Tree Enthusiasts! 🚨

We are thrilled to be a major part of the first-ever Iowa Arbor Expo!

Day 1 is already underway and Michael Porter is ready to answer any of your questions on Kankakee trees.

Tomorrow on the main stage, Michael and Pete will talk about Kankakee’s grow bag evolution, municipal tree trends from a national level, and provide insight into what we’ve seen has worked or hasn’t worked on the wide-ranging forestry initiatives weve assisted with.

Looking forward to seeing and meeting any of you Iowa arborists out there and to learn from the intriguing lineup of industry experts!

Let’s talk some trees 🤙

We came. We saw. We got out of the mud. (Not sure how to say that in Latin).

Last week the Kankakee Nursery sales team gathered at the nursery for our annual summit. Despite it quite possibly being the muddiest one ever, it was full of thousands of outstanding plants, engaging and high-level conversations between sales and production, customer feedback reviews, intense games of foosball and ping-pong, and the cherry on top: an unplanned team-building activity (swipe to the end and thanks to Beto for the assist).

We are proud to have a sales team that is not only highly knowledgeable of horticulture, but more importantly to us, high-character people that take pride in helping our customers succeed. And while we have a lot of fun at Kankakee, these days are planned to help not only sales, but our entire team serve you better.

One of the best parts of growing and selling trees is when your business partnerships feel more like friendships. That’s always how we feel when Openlands comes to tag their trees (George loves them too).

Kankakee is grateful for their continued trust and partnership as they continue their renowned work to protect, restore, educate, inspire and improve natural areas throughout Chicagoland.
