Cathie Purdy, Biography:
Nearly six years ago, Master Quilter Cathie Purdy launched One Wild Stitch, a longarm and custom quilting business, located in St. Cathie previously owned and operated a successful gift shop in Duck Creek, Utah. A quilter, wife, mother of two daughters and grandmother to eight beautiful grandchildren, Cathie enjoys the rich a

rtistic community in St. Cathie’s quilts have won several awards in quilting shows, including a first-place ribbon for her Aunt Millie’s Garden quilt (featured on her Facebook photo cover). Cathie is also a member of the elite Painted Hills Fiber Artists (PHFA), a group of seven art-loving master quilters who came together to enable each other’s talents and elevate their art form to new levels. They chose their name to honor the sun-reflecting coral hills in the beautiful terrain that surrounds them. It also expresses their objective to create beautiful landscape artwork using various types of fibers, fabrics, quilts and other materials, sewing techniques, coloring and even hand painting to create their special brand of art. The PHFA exhibited their quilts for five months last year at the St. This extraordinary exhibit was composed of a series of quilts inspired by photographs taken of area landscapes by Robert Lefkow (www.sandstoneimages.com). Lefkow’s photographs were exhibited next to each quilt. The group also exhibited quilts that the Quilt Guild terms as “Challenge Quilts.”

I am excited today to share my new collection of dupioni silks. Dupioni is a plain weave crisp type of silk with a highly lustrous surface. Often woven with two colors of thread. It gives the fabric an iridescent effect. It is silk at it's best natural form. The wonderful thing about this collection is these are fat quarters which are perfect for fiber artists and landscape artists. I have searched for over a year to find silks in fat quarters. If interested you can see them at the Dixie Quilt Guild retreat at Springdale next week. Or contact me for more information.
