A huge shout out to Napa CART for their help in evacuating our animals down to Napa and caring for them while we were unable to!!! Let me tell you, the two ladies who helped us load them up got a bit more than they bargained for! What can I say? Our animals are a little stubborn, just like us! For everyone who has been inquiring, here's a little update on everyone.

We're sorry that we haven't been able to say anything over the past week! It has been a very long difficult fight but we are happy to say that our family is safe and Casa Nuestra survived with little damage! Gene and Katrina Kirkham have been on the property since Monday monitoring for spot fires and there is no power or internet at this time. A huge thank you to CalFire and all the Firefighters out there battling the Glass Fire!!

It's olive picking season! We're thinking of picking and curing some olives this weekend or next. This is an annual activity here at the Casa St. Helena Farmhouse. We do two methods; a lye cure, which is fast and yields olives that are more "buttery/oily" (most people prefer these olives) and also a salt water cure, which takes weeks and weeks. If you're interested in learning how to put up olives, reply to this Facebook post with days that work best for you and we'll organize a group get-together. We'll start some lye ones a few days early so that everyone can bring home a jar of seasoned olives for their Thanksgiving tables. BYOJ (Bring Your Own Jar). You can taste some port at the Casa, if you're into that (call in advance so we can get it out of the locker), the burgers at Auberge, along with the view, are amazing (no reservations required)!
