Eagles' Landing Wine

Eagles' Landing Wine Hello there! We are Eagles' Landing, a small family-owned winery in the heart of the Ozark Mountains. James, MO. James. We are proud to call St.

Our wines start as local grapes and are carefully crafted into classic expressions by the imaginative mind of Advanced Sommelier Eric Taylor. Our mission is simple: make really good wine with 100% local grapes. We’re passionate about food pairings, organic practices, and supporting small business. Our owners, Eric Taylor (Certified Sommelier) and Casey Stuck (Bartender), are lifelong friends with

a farm-focused restaurant in St. When they aren’t growing grapes or making wine, they’re often slinging drinks and clearing tables at Just A Taste - St. It should also be noted that the servers (and bartenders!) from are often helping with harvest, bottling, and labeling of Eagles’ Landing Wine. James, MO our home, and look forward to changing the way the world views Missouri wine.

Vignoles is a perfect partner for any classic Riesling pairing, depending on the residual sugar. Slightly sweeter wines can go with a range of spicy Asian dishes. Our drier style lends itself towards fish: salmon with a pineapple salsa helps highlight the delightful tropical notes.

Vignoles may be a mystery, but it’s one we love.
We’re diving a bit deeper to uncork the history of our Monthly Wine Feature: Vignoles. Originally developed in the 1930s by French viticulturist Jean‑François Ravat, its exact parentage is still unknown — some believe it hints at Pinot Noir, others point toward early American hybrid roots.

The grape found its name in the Finger Lakes of New York in the 1970s before making its way to Missouri, where it truly hit its stride. Today, Vignoles is the most widely planted white wine grape in the state and a cornerstone of Missouri winemaking.

Taste the mystery for yourself with our Ozark Mountain Flight and see how we reimage it in the glass based on its historic roots.

The wine culture today in the Ozark Highlands is due in part to this endeavor. While many other states were diminishing their grape production due to lingering effects of prohibition, Rosati vineyards were on the climb. There are still acres of old vine Concord planted throughout the region, some of which finds its way into our new sparkling wine.

In the Aug. 3, 1944 edition of the St. James Leader, a full-page article and ad for Welch Grape Juice Company appeared. Welch's had recently started buying grapes from the Rosati area and were processing them at the former Cardetti Winery. August 1944 was also the date that German prisoners of war arrived at a camp in Rosati to work in the vineyards and in the former winery, processing grapes for Welch's which was supplying the government with jelly and juice for the military.

Missouri celebrates Vignoles month every August. This delightful tropical wine is made in a range of styles that all embrace balancing its acidity, making it a perfectly refreshing sipper for the exhaustive heat of August. You can find Vignoles bone-dry or made into late harvest dessert wines, but at Eagles’ Landing, our varietal bottling is the former. However, Vignoles does play well into our semi-sweet Lake Trip White blend.
