Very, very, very slight chances for showers or a thunderstorm the next few days, but mainly for eastern Arizona. There will be some clouds, with temperatures staying above normal. Expect light winds. A potential for unsettled and possibly stormy weather arrives late in the weekend and early next week.

Expect areas of heavy rain and potential flooding for Arizona late Sunday evening through late Tuesday evening. This is due to an early fall storm interacting with both remnant Monsoonal moisture and tropical moisture from both Hurricane Odalys and Hurricane Polo. The potential exists for at least 1 to 3 inches of rainfall within this time frame. This amount of rainfall could cause impactful rises in area waterways, including major waterways such as Little Colorado River.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue today, then decrease in coverage Friday with dry weather Saturday. Later Sunday through Monday, an approaching trough may combine with tropical moisture moving up from the south and bring increased rain chances. There is still uncertainty regarding how much rain may fall, and this will depend on the track and speed of the low - stay tuned!

Apache County Emergency Management continues to coordinate with the Apache County District 1, Navajo Nation Police Department, Navajo Nation Department of Transportation (DOT), Navajo Nation Department of Emergency Management, along with several other agencies to assist with flood assessments, response efforts, identify the needs of impacted communities, and develop a coordinated plan to address current and anticipated needs. Apache County Emergency Management remains committed to assisting our regional partners as this situation develops.

Continued rainfall and the potential for additional flooding remain important considerations as we coordinate response and preparedness efforts.

Showers and storms are anticipated to be persistant today through early tomorrow morning. As a result, a Flash Flood Watch has been issued for much of central/northern AZ. Be sure to have a way to receive warnings, and check back for updates!
