Adrián Pérez, known as “Adrián Tacos,” passed away unexpectedly this Sunday in Oaxaca, Mexico. Originally from Querétaro, Mexico, Adrián made St. Joseph, Missouri, his home for more than 25 years, where he introduced Mexican cuisine to Northwest Missouri and shared his tacos with hundreds in the community.

He was a close collaborator of Latinos Connect and a constant supporter of community and social initiatives. Adrián is survived by his wife and two young children. A celebration of life will be announced in the coming days.

From Latinos Connect, we extend our deepest condolences to his family and the Hispanic community in Missouri.

Adrián Pérez, conocido como “Adrián Tacos”, falleció de manera inesperada este domingo en Oaxaca, México. Originario de Querétaro, México, Adrián vivió más de 25 años en St. Joseph, Missouri, donde compartió la gastronomía mexicana con cientos de personas en el noroeste del estado.

Fue colaborador cercano de Latinos Connect y un apoyo constante para iniciativas comunitarias y sociales. Adrián deja a su esposa y a dos hijos pequeños. En los próximos días se anunciará una celebración de despedida.

Desde Latinos Connect expresamos nuestras condolencias a su familia y a la comunidad hispana de Missouri.

Latinos Connect in Kansas City also came together to celebrate the holiday season with a special Christmas gathering. It was a moment to reconnect, reflect, and reorganize as a team, while closing the year with gratitude and shared purpose. This meeting allowed us to align ideas, strengthen collaboration, and prepare intentionally for the work ahead. With clear goals and renewed energy, Latinos Connect is ready to move forward and build what’s coming in 2025.

Latinos Connect en Kansas City también se reunió para celebrar la Navidad con un encuentro especial de cierre de año. Fue un espacio para reencontrarnos, reflexionar y reorganizarnos como equipo, cerrando el año con gratitud y sentido de propósito compartido. Este encuentro nos permitió alinear ideas, fortalecer la colaboración y prepararnos de manera estratégica para el trabajo que viene. Con objetivos claros y energías renovadas, Latinos Connect se prepara para avanzar y construir lo que viene en 2025.

Thanks to another year, our children were able to sing and keep their traditions alive. Christmas is something we celebrate together every year as a community. Thank you to everyone who joins us and to all who are part of Latinos Connect. Merry Christmas 2025 to all of you.

To close Hispanic Heritage Month, we couldn’t have done it in a better way—through integration. Our beautiful Miss Missouri joined the Latino community this weekend, representing everyone, including us. We’re proud of her values and principles, which truly reflect the spirit of the many Missouri communities.

Nuestra bellísima Miss Missouri compartió este fin de semana con la comunidad latina, representando a todos y también a nosotros. This Saturday we shared a wonderful dinner with our friends from the Institute of kansas City who invited Latinos Connect to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month together.
We especially thank Wendy Connelly, PMP for creating this space of connection, respect, and dialogue among communities.
When we talk about integration, we mean all communities —and the Muslim community is one we truly value and appreciate.

Este sábado compartimos una cena maravillosa con nuestros amigos del de Kansas City, quienes invitaron a Latinos Connect a celebrar juntos el Mes de la Herencia Hispana.
Agradecemos especialmente a Wendy Connelly, PMP, por crear este espacio de conexión, respeto y diálogo entre comunidades.
Cuando hablamos de integración, nos referimos a todas las comunidades, y la comunidad musulmana es una que realmente valoramos y apreciamos.

This weekend we celebrated the fourth anniversary of Latinos Connect.
Although we were not in the park as in previous years, the spirit of integration shone just as brightly.
We also used the moment to raise funds to sustain our programs and initiatives, all focused on one mission: to integrate, integrate, and integrate.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who collaborated and helped us gather the resources needed to continue our work. These programs may not be large, but they are powerful and meaningful.

We want to congratulate this year’s honorees: teacher Molly Ring, for her phenomenal work promoting inclusion among young people in schools; Erika Trejo, from the St. Joseph Public Library; and, of course, our dear Richard Nolf, who is beginning a new stage in his life, leaving St. Joseph—but never leaving us. We couldn’t let this moment pass without recognizing him.

Este fin de semana celebramos el cuarto aniversario de Latinos Connect.
Aunque no estuvimos en el parque como en años anteriores, el espíritu de integración brilló igual que siempre.
También aprovechamos para hacer la recaudación de fondos, que nos permite mantener los programas y actividades que tienen un solo objetivo: integrar, integrar e integrar.

Estamos muy agradecidos con cada persona que colaboró y nos ayudó a reunir los recursos necesarios para seguir adelante. Son programas que, aunque pequeños, son poderosísimos y valiosos.

With the funds raised, we will continue offering free community dinners during the winter, as we have done for the past four years. We will also keep our Christmas carols alive to preserve the culture of our children, continue supporting those who want to start their own businesses, and represent our community in spaces of inclusion that open opportunities for everyone — something essential for the future of our societies.

In recent days, we have been reflecting on how to continue sustaining the programs we have developed over the years while also support to not only migrant communities but also to all those navigating the process of adaptation and integration.
