One of our long time clients, Faye Ballard, from Champaign will be competing in the the World Championships of Old-Time Piano Playing down in Oxford, Mississippi over Memorial Day weekend. Faye won in 2024 and placed 3rd last year. She vows to regain her title this year! Here is a snippet of one of the pieces she will be performing. Go Faye!!

As piano technicians, we take pride in restoring instruments that bring families joy and create lifelong memories. Sometimes, a piano becomes an emotional anchor, holding memories of loved ones. This piano we recently serviced was one such instrument, purchased by a father for his daughters in 1972. After his untimely death from a massive heart attack just weeks later, the piano remained a cherished reminder of happier times. Bringing it back to life was a privilege, and the daughter's delight when hearing its restored sound and playability was a heartwarming experience. ❤️ 🎹

We were honored to service all 20 pianos for the ILMEA conference in Peoria this week. Students work diligently to earn the opportunity to perform there, and we aim to deliver exceptional sound quality from the pianos generously provided by Piano Network. Our team at Rohde Piano takes pride in their work, and we're proud to have such a talented group on board. The team dynamic feels more like a family than coworkers. ❤️🎹

The University of Illinois employs a dedicated full-time technician to maintain over 100 pianos. Rohde Piano provides service to other university areas, including residence halls and performance venues. Bromley Hall features a notable Story and Clark grand piano in its student lounge area.

These last couple weeks we have been quite busy at Rohde Piano. This time of year the bulk of our schedules are filled with churches and schools in preparation for Christmas! It's been a couple of weeks, but we were back at the Virginia Theater again last week. This time around Megan prepared the piano for Ben Folds! He is currently on a tour titled “Ben Folds and a Piano”. You might remember him from his big hit in '97, “Brick”, when he was with Ben Folds Five. If you have a chance to catch him live, it's quite the experience!

Last week, Jeff Rohde had the privilege of tuning for Elvis Costello. He delivered a fantastic performance at the Virginia Theater in Champaign, IL. Elvis travels with a stunning Steinway B grand piano that is in excellent condition and boasts a magnificent tone. 🎹🎸

Our skilled technician, Ryan Sinclair, recently serviced Larry Hollenberg's piano in southern Illinois, close to Salem. We have tuned this piano for the last 6 years and he has become one of our favorite clients. Larry possesses a rare Steinway Grand S Ampico player piano.
