It was in college, I first heard the quote, ' They tried to bury us, but they didn't know we were seeds' Last week I joined 200 DEI leaders and practitioners from around the country and the hope, love, light, and liberation that was in this room told me everything I need to know:
DEI IS NOT DEAD, IT WAS UPROOTED
It was uprooted because it was:
- Planted in bad soil
- Not planted deep enough
The bad soil we know is the environment which is a huge factor if a seed will grow but I want to talk about going/digging deeper.
We have an opportunity to dig deeper now and we must.
Diversity includes everyone, I mean everyone and therefore inclusion and equity is for everyone as well.
This moment is inviting us to deepen our definitions, our frameworks, our rigor,
our expectations in workshops, our systems, our hope, our language, our understanding of multidisciplinary practice and more.
DEI can't die because it is about humans and if we are alive, DEI is too
Lets dig deeper because trees and seeds ahave a lot to teach us
Thanks for reading and would love have you contribute to the conversation
