Today at our Number 9 Networking St Peters MO meeting (SHAMROCKS) we heard from Jeff Hardie with Jeff Hardie: The Healthcare Plan Man Business/Estate Planning Expert.
Jeff discussed the business and estate planning side of his company, including:
• Buy/Sell Agreements
• Key Person Insurance
• Wills & Trusts
• Advanced Healthcare Directive/Surrogate
• Executive Bonus Plans
• Life Insurance
• Retirement Planning
One of the biggest takeaways was that many companies have buy/sell agreements in place, but no actual funding mechanism to buy out a partner if something happens to them. Jeff explained how life insurance is commonly used to properly fund those agreements and protect the business.
He also discussed Key Person Insurance, which helps provide financial stability for operations and training when a critical employee or owner passes away or becomes incapacitated.
Another topic that sparked a lot of discussion was Executive Bonus Plans, a strategy businesses can use to attract and retain top talent by offering life insurance policies that build cash value over time for employees who stay with the company long-term.
Jeff then moved into Wills, Trusts, and Advanced Healthcare Directives/Surrogates.
One point that really made people stop and think was this:
Even your adult children need a healthcare directive/surrogate in place. Without one, if they end up hospitalized and unable to speak for themselves, parents may have little or no authority to make healthcare decisions on their behalf.
He also discussed the importance of life insurance for anyone who has loved ones depending on their income financially.
Finally, Jeff talked about retirement planning and the complimentary, no-obligation Financial Needs Analysis (FNA) his company provides.
Through this process, they evaluate:
• Retirement readiness and income strategy
• Protection for your family in the event of an
unexpected death
• Asset protection and wealth transfer
planning
• Gaps or inefficiencies in current coverage
Afterward, they provide strategic recommendations designed to help clients retire comfortably, protect their families, and transfer assets efficiently.
