Sales is a hard gig. It doesn’t matter what you’re selling, from plants to software, some days picking up the phone or approaching someone regarding sales can be the furthest thing from what you feel like doing. This is where disciplined behavior is a life saver and essential to the job! It’s easy to say you need discipline but it’s a little harder to instill it into your daily life, so how does one become more disciplined? Here’s a few tips:

1. Set clearly defined goals and break them down into steps. You need to know what you want to do and define your why.

2. Regiment. Set your daily musts and do not stray from them under every controllable circumstance. Start with small and sustainable steps and keep the promises you make to yourself.

3. Realize the difference between motivation and discipline. Motivation is a feeling, feelings change. Discipline is completing actions and tasks despite how you feel.
